An image formation apparatus includes an electrostatically chargeable member having an optical density that changes with change of its reproducing power. A charging device forms an electrostatic latent image on the chargeable member, and a developing device develops the electrostatic latent image into a visual image. A transfer mechanism then transfers the visual image onto a recording member. A detector detects the optical density before the chargeable member is charged by the charging device and a control device controls at least one of the charging device, the developing device, and the transfer mechanism in accordance with the output of the detector.

Image formation method and apparatus

This specification discloses an electrophotographic process for forming an electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive medium which may consist of an insulative layer and a photoconductive layer (and further an insulative layer), and also discloses an apparatus for carrying out the process. The electrophotographic process essentially comprises the primary charging step of uniformly charging the insulative layer of the photosensitive medium, and the step of contacting a liquid with said insulative layer and applying a desired voltage to the liquid to thereby discharge or charge the liquid and substantially simultaneously therewith, applying light from an object image to the photoconductive layer of the photosensitive medium. The process may further comprise other various steps as required in electrophotography, such as overall or blanket exposure, development, image transfer and cleaning of the photosensitive medium.

Electrophotographic method

The disclosure describes an improved electrostatic printing in which cleaning step and developing step are united together as single combined step. It is possible to carry out charging step and transferring step with same single means. The electrostatic printing is adaptable for making a large number of prints at a high speed. The developing agent can be recovered and reused very efficiently.

Electrostatic printing

The electrostatic printing apparatus includes a device for making an electrostatic printing master having thereon an electrical resistance pattern by applying image light of an original on an image forming member and heating the member, a rotatable member for carrying thereon the printing master, a charge image forming device which applies electric charges to the master, a developer for developing the charge image, transfer device for transferring the developed image onto a transfer material, a cleaner for cleaning the master after the transfer, and a device for removing and discharging the master.

A cathode ray tube pickup device comprises a photosensitive medium having a dielectric layer, a photoconductive layer and conductive layer, a charger for uniformly charging the surface of the photosensitive medium, a discharger for uniformly discharging the charged surface of the photosensitive medium, an optical fiber tube closely spaced from the surface of the photosensitive medium to effect negative image application thereon, and developing means for developing the surface of the photosensitive medium with a toner opposite in polarity to the charge in said surface.

In an image forming apparatus for selectively reproducing positive and negative electrostatic latent images corresponding to an original image, there is provided a photosensitive medium having an insulating layer on its surface, a first charger capable of uniformly imparting charges to the surface of the photosensitive medium, a second charger capable of acting on the photosensitive medium after the action of the first charger, projection apparatus for projecting the original image to expose the photosensitive medium to the image, a third charger open with respect to the projection-exposure of the original image by the projection apparatus and capable of acting on the photosensitive medium simultaneously therewith, a uniform exposure lamp for imparting uniform exposure to the photosensitive medium, and control circuitry for controlling the operations of the second and third chargers and the uniform exposure lamp.

Image forming apparatus for forming positive and negative images

A light image storing and reproducing device for storage and reproduction of original images comprises an information storage medium including a member having a photoconductive substance and an electrochromic substance, said member being supported between electrodes, original image projecting means for projecting an original image on said information storage medium, illuminating means for illuminating the surface of said information storage medium, and voltage applying means for applying a voltage of a prescribed polarity and a voltage of a reverse polarity interchangeably between the electrodes of the information storage medium.
