An ash tray of the drawer type is movably installed in an instrument panel of an automotive vehicle. The ash tray in its right position functions to receive ash of a cigarette in its ash receiving cavity formed on its right side, and can take its reverse position upon being turned upside down so as to disable it from receiving cigarette ash while enabling to store articles at an article storing section formed on its reverse side, so that the ash tray becomes useful even for a nonsmoker.

A connector for connecting a battery terminal to an electrical cable of an automotive vehicle, comprising: a gripping portion formed of elastically deformable material in the shape of a cylindrical or part-conical shell which has a slot formed axially thereof; two extensions from this gripping portion, each extending outwardly from one side of the slot, and extending generally in the same direction, approximately parallel to one another, and to one of which the cable is coupled; and a means for biasing these two extensions towards one another; with the particular feature that the inner surface of the gripping portion is formed with a plurality of high portions and low portions on it, so that, when it is brought around a battery terminal post and closely contacted thereto by the extensions being biased towards one another by the biasing means and deforming the gripping portion so that its inner surface is constricted, the contact area between the gripping portion and the battery terminal is substantially less than the total area of the inner surface of the gripping portion, and is interrupted by non-contacting portions of the said area. In particular embodiments, this inner surface of the gripping portion can be formed with troughs or with raised ribs, and these can either be axial along the inner surface, or can extend around its circumferential direction. Alternatively, this inner surface can be formed with either a raised or a depressed criss-cross diagonal pattern thereon. Further, a projection from one of the extensions may be provided as projecting towards the other extension, in order to prevent these extensions approaching one another closer than a certain fixed distance.

A plug-in fuse assembly is disclosed which includes a fuse element made up of a pair of elongated current-carrying portions in spaced relationship and a fuse-forming link portion extending between the current-carrying portions. The fuse element is placed in an insulating casing with its terminal portions projecting therefrom. Means is provided for providing a fuse opening indication in response to heat generated from the fuse-forming link portion when it opens up.

The improved arrangement of plug-in fuses comprises multiple fuse assemblies each comprising a fuse body and a housing enclosing the fuse body, the fuse body having two parallel terminal blade portions with their both ends projecting from the housing which ends are fitted in small slit-shape socket openings formed in a fuse mounting board, and retaining pieces fixed on the mounting board for retaining the housing upright.

A waterproof terminal pin holding block comprising a housing having a chamber which is closed at one end by a partition wall and open at the other end, the partition wall being formed with at least one opening; a plug member of resilient elastomeric material sealingly disposed in the chamber and having a through hole which is aligned with the opening of the partition wall upon final fitting of the plug member in the housing; a contact pin sealingly disposed in the through hole of the plug member in a manner that at least one section of the contact pin is placed in the opening; and locking means for locking the plug member and the housing together.

A gas generator is integrally formed with a piston connected to a seat belt so that thrust developed by gas discharge into a piston chamber supplements the force of the gas on the piston to decrease the time required to move the piston and strain the seat belt.

A safety seat belt device suitable for motor vehicles, railway coaches, aeroplanes, speedboats and the like, including shoulder and lap belts which are automatically movable between an occupant restraining position and an easy-to-enter position in relation with closing and opening operation of a vehicle door or operating conditions of the vehicle, and an inflatable cushioning means which is adapted to expand between the shoulder belts and a vehicle occupant in the event of an abnormal sudden deceleration of the vehicle as in a collision or similar harzardous accidents.

A vehicle occupant restraining belt which is expansible upon collision of the vehicle. An expansible belt section is formed of a resilient or extendible peripheral wall defining an elongate cavity. Gas producing means provided on the belt section supplies the cavity with pressurized gas to expand the peripheral wall.
