A bearing device () for a vehicle wheel provided with: an outer member (); and an inner member comprising a hub wheel (), and at least one inner wheel () press-fitted into the small-diameter ridge (A) of the hub wheel (); wherein a belt-shaped part (F) that radially protrudes by a protrusion amount (P) is formed over a prescribed width (W) in the outer peripheral surface of the outer member () so that at least part of the belt-shaped part (F) radially overlaps the outside rolling surface (D) which is on the vehicle-wheel-attachment-flange-facing side of the outer member (). The present invention addresses the problem of providing a bearing device for a vehicle wheel in which the amount of deformation in an opening of an outer member can be reduced and decreases in rolling fatigue service life can be prevented while keeping overall weight increase to a minimum.

Bearing device for vehicle wheel

A wheel bearing apparatus has an outer member, an inner member, at least one inner ring fit onto the inner member. Double row rolling elements are rollably arranged between the outer and inner raceway surfaces, via cages. A seal is mounted on one end of the outer member. The seal has side lips adapted to be in sliding contact with the wheel hub. The seal has three inclined side lips each extending radially outward from the seal body. The lips are adapted to be in sliding contact with the base of the wheel mounting flange. Interference of the side lips against the base of the wheel mounting flange is set so that the radially inner side lip has a smaller interference than that of the radially outer side lips, in order.

Wheel bearing apparatus

A wheel bearing apparatus has an outer member, an inner member and double row rolling elements. A pulser ring is fit onto the inner ring. A second cap is fit on the inboard-side end of the outer member. A rotational speed sensor is mounted on the second cap. A cup-shaped first cap is press-fit into the inner circumference of an inboard-side end of the outer member. The first cap has a cylindrical fitting portion press-fit into the outer member. A disk portion extends radially inward from the fitting portion. The sensor abuts the disk portion. The second cap is press-fit into the inner circumference of an inboard-side end of the outer member via a predetermined interference.

A wheel bearing apparatus incorporating an in-wheel motor has a connecting shaft. The connecting shaft has a disc portion, forming the planetary elements, and a shaft portion, axially extending from the disc portion, via a shoulder portion. The outer circumference of the shaft portion has a serration. The connecting shaft is inserted into the wheel hub until the disc portion abuts the inner member. A seal ring, formed of elastic material, is interposed between the inner member and the connecting shaft to shield the driving portion from the outside in a liquid-tight manner.

Wheel bearing apparatus incorporated with an in-wheel motor

A wheel bearing apparatus with an incorporated wheel speed detecting apparatus has an outer member with double row outer raceway surfaces formed on its inner circumferential surface. An inner member includes a wheel hub with an integrally formed wheel mounting flange at one end. A cylindrical portion axially extends from the wheel mounting flange. An inner ring is fit onto the cylindrical portion of the wheel hub. Double row inner raceway surfaces, opposite to the double row outer raceway surfaces, are formed on the outer circumferential surfaces of the wheel hub and inner ring, respectively. Double row rolling elements are arranged between the outer and inner raceway surfaces. An encoder is mounted on the outer circumferential surface of the inner ring. An annular sensor holder is arranged on the end of the outer member opposite to the encoder. A wheel rotation speed detecting sensor is integrally molded with the sensor holder and arranged opposite to the encoder, via a predetermined radial gap. The encoder has an annular ring configuration with its characteristics alternately and equidistantly varying along its circumferential direction. A seal is arranged at the inboard side of the encoder via the sensor holder. The seal includes a first annular sealing plate and a second annular sealing plate. The first and second annular plates are mounted on the sensor holder and the inner ring, respectively, and opposite toward each other.

Wheel bearing apparatus incorporated with a wheel speed detecting apparatus

A sensor holder has an encoder and a wheel speed sensor arranged opposite to the encoder, via a predetermined air gap. An annular fitting member is formed by pressing an anti-corrosive steel plate. A holding portion is formed of injection moldable synthetic resin and is integrally formed with the annular fitting member. The annular fitting member includes a cylindrical portion axially extending from an incline portion. A seal is arranged inboard of the sensor and fit between the inner circumference of the cylindrical portion of the annular fitting member and the outer circumference of the inner ring. The wheel speed sensor is embedded in the holding portion. At least a surface of the annular fitting member contacting the holding portion is roughened by shot blasting to have a surface roughness Ra of 0.8 or more.

A vehicle wheel bearing apparatus has an outer member with a body mounting flange, an inner member and double row rolling elements freely rollably contained between the inner and outer raceway surfaces of the inner and outer members. The body mounting flange is formed with a plurality of screw apertures. An inner side flange surface of the body mounting flange is formed by machining to have a flat vertical surface relative to a longitudinal axis of a wheel hub. An outer side flange surface of the body mounting flange is formed by forging to have a tapered surface of a predetermined inclined angle. Thus, the thickness of the body mounting flange is gradually reduced radially outward.

Wheel bearing apparatus for a vehicle

A wheel bearing device includes a hub ring, a double-row bearing and a constant velocity universal joint which are unitized together. At least one of double-row inner raceways of the bearing and a wheel mounting flange are formed on a hub ring. The hub ring and a stem portion of a joint outer ring of the constant velocity universal joint are fitted through a torque transmission assembly, wherein a pilot member as a separate element having a wheel guide portion and a brake guide portion is fitted to a side-end portion of the wheel mounting flange of the hub ring, and the hub ring and the pilot member are fixed to the joint outer ring by swaging.

Wheel bearing device

A vehicle wheel bearing apparatus has an outer member, an inner member, and double row rolling elements freely rollably contained between the inner and outer raceway surfaces of the inner and outer members. A brake pilot portion extends from a base of a wheel hub mounting flange toward the outer side to guide an inner circumferential surface of a brake rotor. A wheel pilot portion extends from the brake pilot portion further toward the outer side to guide an inner circumferential surface of the wheel. The wheel pilot portion including a plurality of separated pilots separated along a circumferential direction. A chamfered portion is formed, by forging, on a forward end of each separated pilot in view of its lathe cutting direction. The chamfered portion has a predetermined inclined angle relative to an axial end surface of each separated pilot after lathe cutting.

A wheel hub of a wheel bearing apparatus has an outer member and an inner member. The inner member includes a wheel hub and an inner ring. The wheel hub has a wheel mounting flange, a shaft portion, an inner raceway surface, a cylindrical portion, a shoulder portion, and a through bore. The inner ring is press-fit onto the cylindrical portion abutting against the shoulder portion. Double row rolling elements are contained between the inner and outer raceway surfaces of the inner member and the outer member. Fiber flow near the inner circumference of the material forming the wheel hub from the shoulder to the open end surface of the wheel hub is in a condition substantially parallel to the axis of the wheel hub.

Hub wheel of a wheel bearing apparatus and a manufacturing method thereof

A wheel support bearing assembly includes an inner member having a hub axle and an inner race mounted on the hub axle. This bearing assembly includes one of an engagement recess formed in a portion of an inner peripheral surface of the inner race corresponding to an inboard edge portion of the hub axle and an engagement projection is formed in the hub axle for engagement with the engagement recess, and an annular recess formed in the outer peripheral surface of the hub axle and is opposed to an inboard side face of the inner race by the radially outward deformation of an inboard edge portion of the hub axle.

Wheel support bearing assembly

A vehicle wheel bearing apparatus has an outer member and an inner member. Double row rolling elements are freely rollably contained between the outer and inner raceway surfaces of the outer and inner members, via cages. Seals are mounted between the outer and the inner members. A backup seal is fit onto the outer circumference of the outer side end of the outer member. The backup seal has a metal core that includes a cylindrical fitting portion and an upstanding portion that extends radially outward from the fitting portion. A sealing member is integrally adhered to the metal core. The sealing member has a side lip formed so that it extends radially outward from the metal core and inclines toward the inner side surface of the wheel mounting flange to slidably contact the flange, via a predetermined interference.
