A method of treating at least one silicon carbide fibre, the method including a) formation of a silica layer at the surface of a silicon carbide fibre having an oxygen content less than or equal to 1% in atomic percentage, the silica layer being formed by contacting this fibre with an oxidizing medium having a temperature greater than or equal to 50&#xb0; C. and pressure greater than or equal to 1 MPa, and b) removal of the silica layer formed by hydrothermal treatment of the fibre obtained after implementation of step a) in which the fibre is treated with water at a pressure between saturating vapour pressure and 30 MPa and at a temperature less than or equal to 400&#xb0; C.

The invention relates to a method for the treatment of silicon carbide fibers, comprising a step involving the chemical treatment of fibers with an aqueous acid solution containing hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid but free of acetic acid in order to remove the silica present on the surface of fibers and to form a layer of microporous carbon. Carbonization of cellulosic fibrous materials in the presence of an organosilicon compound

The subject of the present invention is a method of obtaining fibrous carbon materials by carbonization of cellulosic fibrous materials carried out continuously or batchwise in the presence of at least one organosilicon compound. The carbonization of cellulose fiber fabric comprises an initial stage of heat treatment up to 250&#xb0; C. to 350&#xb0; C., with a relatively high mean temperature rise speed of 10&#xb0; C./min to 60&#xb0; C./min, an intermediate stage up to 350&#xb0; C. to 500&#xb0; C. with a lower mean temperature rise speed of 2&#xb0; C./min to 10&#xb0; C./min, and a final stage up to 500&#xb0; C. to 750&#xb0; C. with a mean temperature rise speed that is again raised to 5&#xb0; C./min to 40&#xb0; C./min.
