A driver assistance apparatus being configured to generate a list of objects, each object being located in a vicinity of the vehicle and each object having been identified using data from at least one object sensor on the vehicle. The apparatus also searches for lane markings on a road on which the vehicle travels using data from at least one lane marking sensor on the vehicle. Finally, a region of interest ('ROI') is established on the basis of at least one detected lane marking, wherein the ROI includes an ROI ego lane, an ROI left lane and an ROI right lane. A corresponding method is also provided.

Driver assistance systems

An apparatus including an interface and a processor. The interface may be configured to receive area data and sensor data from a plurality of vehicle sensors. The processor may be configured to extract road characteristics for a location from the area data, predict expected sensor readings at the location for the plurality of sensors based on the road characteristics, calculate dynamic limits for the sensor data in response to the expected sensor readings and determine a plausibility of the sensor data received from the interface when the vehicle reaches the location. The sensor data may be plausible if the sensor data is within the dynamic limits. A confidence level of the sensor data may be adjusted in response to the plausibility of the sensor data.

Sensor plausibility using GPS road information

A driver assistance apparatus being configured to determine an object position sequence for each of a plurality of objects and generate an object track to approximate each respective object position sequence. The apparatus also sorts the object tracks in to at least one object group according to the value of at least one parameter of each of the object tracks. For each object group, a swarm function is generated to approximate the object position sequences of the object tracks that are members of the respective object group. A swarm lane is generated according to each the swarm function, the swarm lane portion representing a portion of a lane. A corresponding method is also provided.

Apparatus for a driver assistance system

A sensor assembly for a motor vehicle adapted for sensing impacts including pedestrian impacts. The sensor assembly integrates functions of pressure based sensors used in one embodiment with a compressible tube extending laterally across the front surface of the vehicle and the outboard front boundary areas of the front end of the vehicle. Both acceleration and pressure based sensors are mounted into an integrated sensor housing which is mounted in a desired position at the vehicle front fascia front boundary areas. The system optimizes pressure based sensing while providing acceleration based sensing at the lateral boundary areas where supporting structure does not enable pressure based sensing. The invention further including sensor arrangements including discrete pressure and acceleration sensors deployed for detecting pedestrian impacts at the center and front boundary areas of the vehicle front end.
