Luminaire

An accent light is provided that easily mounts directly to a linear luminaire across its light-emitting opening and in front of the luminaire's lamp(s). The accent light has one or more mounting devices that easily engage the luminaire. The accent light can be advantageously installed without disrupting a continuous row of linear luminaires.

The present invention may comprise a reflector for a luminaire comprising: a first reflector means; a second reflector means structured as a ballast reflector; a third reflector means; and a fourth reflector means located and structured to reflect light reflected from the first reflector segment; wherein the reflectors precisely direct light into a desired candela distribution for illuminating surfaces evenly at desired angles.

A heat sink for use with luminaires can be tightened securely against a lamp socket and can be loosened to allow the lamp socket to be rotated. The heat sink also contacts preferably an endplate or other structure of the luminaire having a preferably large amount of exterior surface area. Heat is drawn away from the lamp socket and interior of the luminaire via the heat sink to the endplate or other structure, where the heat is dissipated via convection into the surrounding air. By using another structure of the luminaire having a relatively large amount of surface area, the heat sink advantageously need not be large or bulky.

Linear luminaires that asymmetrically distribute emitted and reflected light are presented. These luminaires have single or twin unit fluorescent lighting and optional uplighting. Each includes an elliptical baffle assembly and at least one independently adjustable reflector enclosed within the housing of the luminaire. The adjustable reflector is adjustable through at least about 15&#xb0; of rotation and is at least partially hidden from view by the housing and baffle assembly. The luminaires can be surface mounted, suspended, or cantilever mounted, and include wireways to permit wiring to be run discreetly inside and through adjacent asymmetric distribution luminaires.

Asymmetric distribution luminaire

A display lighting system is provided that assembles and installs easily. Luminaires of the system include a pair of arms and a wireway enclosure positioned between the arms at one end of the arms. The enclosure is dimensioned to enclose electrical wiring and at least one electrical component, such as a ballast or transformer. A lamp housing can be attached to the arms at the end opposite the enclosure. An uplight lamp housing is easily mounted to the arms anywhere between the wireway enclosure and lamp housing. Wiring between the enclosure and lamp housings is carried inconspicuously in a trough along the inside of one or both arms. Wiring between adjacent luminaires runs conveniently through nipple connectors connecting adjacent enclosures. Optional accent lighting is also provided.

Wireway enclosures are provided for use with lighting systems, particularly display lighting systems. The wireway enclosures are dimensioned to enclose luminaire wiring and preferably other types of wiring and at least one electrical component, such as a ballast or transformer. Wireway enclosures include preferably extruded first and second longitudinal portions hinged together to allow access to the inside of the enclosure. Wiring between adjacent luminaires can run conveniently and inconspicuously through nipple connectors connecting adjacent enclosures.

A display lighting system is provided that assembles and installs easily and provides a wireway for luminaire and other types of wiring. Luminaires of the system each include a lamp housing attached to the ends of a pair of arms that can hold the housing sufficiently out beyond a displayed object to provide more complete illumination of the object's vertical face. Each luminaire includes a wireway enclosure dimensioned to enclose electrical wiring and at least one electrical component, such as a ballast or transformer. The enclosure is positioned between the arms at the ends opposite the lamp housing. Wiring between the lamp housing and enclosure is carried inconspicuously in a trough along the inside of one or both arms. Wiring between adjacent luminaires runs conveniently through nipple connectors connecting adjacent enclosures. Optional uplighting and accent lighting is also provided.
