A method of washing dishware in a dishwasher comprising the step of delivering into the dishwasher: a) a first composition comprising oxygen bleach and substantially free of enzymes; followed by b) a second composition comprising enzymes wherein the first composition has a pH of at least 11 and the pH of the first composition is at least 1 pH unit greater the pH of the second composition wherein the pH is measured at wash concentration at 20&#xb0; C.

A method for removing moisture from moist air in an appliance, such as a treating chamber of a dishwasher, wherein a drying system includes a condensing system and heat exchange systems that enhance condensation with both ambient air and cold water. The method includes storing cold water for use during a cycle of operation; recirculating the moist air in the treating chamber through a condenser; during the recirculating, flowing ambient air over the condenser; and during the recirculating and after the flowing ambient air, flowing the cold water over the condenser.

Method of operating a dishwasher

A method for removing moisture from moist air in an appliance, such as a treating chamber of a dishwasher, wherein a drying system includes a condensing system and heat exchange systems that enhance condensation with both ambient air and cold water. Example methods for determining an over-sudsing condition during a wash cycle of operation in a laundry treating appliance containing a foamable liquid are disclosed. An example method includes rotating within a tub a drum defining a treating chamber while the tub contains a foamable liquid, determining, over time, a fluctuation in a signal from a pressure sensor fluidly coupled to the tub while the drum is rotating, the signal representing an amount of water in the tub, determining an over-sudsing condition when the fluctuation satisfies a predetermined threshold, and altering a cycle of operation in response to the determination of an over-sudsing condition.

Method and apparatus to detect an over-suds condition

Appliances having a detergent dispenser that may be flushed with a water flow for removal of residual treating chemistry while reducing sudsing are disclosed. An example dispenser includes a cup with a bottom wall, a siphon tube projecting upwardly from the bottom wall, a cover for the siphon tube, an opening configured to introduce a liquid stream into the cup from a position above and beyond a periphery of the cover, wherein substantially all of the liquid stream flows downwardly along a trajectory defined by the opening and terminating below and within the periphery of the cover, and wherein the liquid stream directly impinges a portion of at least one of the cup or the siphon tube below the cover.

An agent dispenser for a fabric treatment appliance includes a housing having a manifold and an agent compartment. The manifold may be configured to receive water and supply the water to the agent compartment through an outlet port. The agent compartment may be configured to receive an agent, such as a detergent or additive, in liquid or powder form. The outlet port may be in fluid communication with the bottom of the agent compartment to supply the water to the bottom of the agent compartment whereby the water supplied to the agent compartment mixes with the agent in the agent compartment substantially from the bottom up.

Agent dispenser

A suspension rod assembly for a resiliently supporting a moving system of a washing machine. The suspension rod assembly includes a rod having an upper end engaging a stationary support structure and a lower end. An end cap including a washer and an annular retainer is mounted to the lower end of the rod. A friction tube is disposed about the lower portion of the rod and has a flanged bottom edge captured between the annular retainer and the washer. The friction tube extends upwardly from the end cap about the rod and a tubular cup is provided about the friction tube. The cup includes a cylindrical wall forming an elongated annular cavity between the friction tube and the cylindrical wall. A compressible friction member is disposed within the elongated annular cavity and is radially compressed between the cylindrical wall and friction tube for frictionally engaging the friction tube. The compressible friction member is formed from a rectangular sheet of foam material which is wrapped about the friction tube such that it is configured into a hollow cylindrical body having an axial gap or slit. A spring is arranged coaxially around the friction tube between the end cap and tubular cap. A cap mounts above the open top end of the tubular cup for capturing the compressible friction member between the cap and the tubular cup. The cap supportably engages the moving system of the washer such that suspension rod assembly resiliently supports the moving system.
