A granular material conveying system for conveying granular materials and filtering fine particles from the granular materials is configured for rotatably conveying granular materials about an axis in a longitudinal direction along the axis. The system includes a hollow center tube coaxially centered about the axis. The center tube includes an outlet, an exterior, an interior and a plurality of perforations communicating between the exterior and the interior. As the granular materials are rotatably conveyed along and around the center tube, fine particles from granular materials migrate through the perforations into the center tube and are thereby filtered from the granular material.

A grain column dryer which includes two concentric, cylindrical pervious walls and a pervious cone on top of the inner pervious wall, utilizes an impervious, heat insulated, cylindrical outer wall spaced outwardly from the pervious walls. A heater/blower assembly is supported on a substantially airtight impervious bulkhead in the center of the dryer to force heated air into an upper heated plenum and out through the concentric pervious walls and the pervious top cone, and to thereby draw air through lower portions of the pervious walls. A hottest air recycle collar is attached to the outer pervious wall above the bulkhead baffle and extends, in spaced relation to the outer pervious wall and to the outer impervious wall, to position well below the bulkhead baffle. The impervious outer wall terminates short of the bottom of the pervious walls so that heated air passes from above the bulkhead baffle down inside of the recycle collar and inside of the impervious outer wall and back through the pervious walls below the baffle to mix with ambient air drawn in through the pervious walls below the impervious outer wall.

Grain dryer

A lifting jack has its upward and downward traveling distance controlled by means of a limit switch. The lifting jack has a base, an upright outer member rigidly connected to the base and an upright inner member movable coaxially within the outer member. An up stop and an adjustable down stop are rigidly attached to and move with the inner member. An adjustable mount is mounted in a fixed position on the outer member, and the limit switch is mounted in fixed position on the mount. A guide shoe assembly is pivotally connected to the mount and is oriented generally perpendicular to the direction of travel of the inner member. A stop engaging member at one end of the guide is positioned to engage the up stop and the down stop, and an arm guiding portion at the opposite end engages and guides an actuating arm of the limit switch. In operation, the guide (and therefore the actuating arm of the limit switch) is biased by garter springs which hold it in a normal position riding on the inner member which is generally perpendicular to the direction of travel of the inner member of the jack. When the stop engaging member engages the down stop, the stop engaging member moves downward and the arm guiding portion and the actuating arm move upward, thereby causing the limit switch to change from its normal state. Similarly, when the stop engaging member engages the up stop, it moves upward and the arm guiding portion and the arm move downward to cause a change in the state of the limit switch.
