Degassing system for a hydrocarbon dispenser

Recovery system for recovering hydrocarbon vapor and offering improved

The efficiency of hydrocarbon vapor recovery installations used in gas stations is measured. A system for measuring a yield of recovery for hydrocarbon vapors emitted from the tank of a vehicle as it is being filled comprises at least one box for carrying a nozzle inside and for placement over a filler neck of the tank. The nozzle is connected through a conduit to a device for evaluating the recovered hydrocarbon vapor, wherein the recovered vapor evaluation device is a gas meter and a following orifice.

System for measuring the efficiency of hydrocarbon vapor recovery

A tubular device is slid over a delivery nozzle hose. A hose connects the tubular device to a gas meter. As fluid is expelled from the nozzle into the atmosphere, atmospheric air is sucked into the gas meter so that its volume can be measured for comparison with the volume of the expelled fluid.

Method and apparatus for measuring the volumetric efficiency of systems

A positive-displacement fluid flow measuring system, especially for hydrocarbon fuel dispensers. The measuring system comprises, in addition to a positive-displacement meter per se, a correction system for correcting the loss of head in the meter. The correction system comprises a differential pressure detector responsive to the difference between the pressures at the inlet and the outlet of the meter. The displacement of the membrane enables an external motor to be coupled to the shaft of the meter by means of the plates.

Positive-displacement fluid flow-measuring system

A system that provides assistance in opening the main valve in a hydrocarbon dispenser nozzle. The external control member for opening the main valve acts on a pilot valve of small flow section, with the main valve being opened by fluid pressure applied to it as a result of the pilot valve being opened. The seat of the pilot valve is formed in the main valve member.

Hydrocarbon dispenser nozzle

A hinged nozzle incorporates a valve for permitting or stopping the flow of a liquid wherein the valve is responsive to the movement of a portion of the nozzle. The nozzle includes a spring which provides a motivating force for rotating the portion of the nozzle to a position which closes the valve and thus stops the flow of liquid.

Fuel-dispensing nozzle for dispensing hydrocarbon fuel

A lubricating system for the pump of the vapor recovery circuit of a nozzle for dispensing a hydrocarbon. The lubricating system comprises a capillary pipe which takes off a small flow of hydrocarbon from the main pump of the feedpipe and feeds it to the inlet of the vapor recovery pump.

Device for dispensing hydrocarbons with vapor recovery

When a hydrocarbon liquid is pumped (11) for retail delivery, it is degassed by means of a vortex device (13). A control valve (21) shuts off delivery if the gas content in the degassed liquid being delivered via a main duct (16) is too high. Unlike prior systems which sense gas content only in the liquid being delivered, the present invention senses the greater gas content in the recycled gas-enriched fraction from the vortex separator device (13). This is done by means of a venturi system (19) controlling a servo-valve (25) which in turn controls the control valve (21). By using a magnified image of the gas content, the system is made more sensitive and more reliable.

Liquid hydrocarbon delivery means including means for monitoring gas

A rotary device for interacting with a flow of liquid. The rotary device comprises a casing provided with an inlet opening and an outlet opening. The casing contains a first rotary member having a first axis of rotation (YY') and external teeth, and a second rotary member surrounding the external teeth of the first rotary member and guided to rotate about a second axis (XX') parallel to the first axis. The second rotary member includes two circular rings mounted inside the casing to occupy two respective planes perpendicular to the first axis of rotation (YY'), and a plurality of longitudinal components mounted between the rings to lie parallel with the second axis of rotation (XX'). Each of the longitudinal components has a cross-section in the shape of a gear tooth for meshing with the teeth of the first member. The rings have regularly spaced-apart notches around their peripheries in order to receive the ends of the longitudinal components, the longitudinal components not being fixed to the rings.

Rotary device having inter-engaging internal and external teeth

An optical sensor for measuring physical magnitudes, such as a differential pressure, is described. The pressure sensor comprises a deformable diaphragm (24) which separates two measurement chambers (26,28) where pressures P1 and P2 exist. An optical conductor (34) is attached to the diaphragm (24). A light source (40) allows a light beam to be radiated towards the conductor (34). An optoelectrical converter (42) performs a detection of the light energy (1) output from the light guide (34), and thus of the difference between both pressures (P1,P2).

Optical sensor of physical magnitude

A fluid pressure gauge comprises a unitary, sealed, U-shaped hollow tube (12) with an electrically conductive ribbon (14) stretched between the ends of its arms (18). Fluid pressure applied to the interior of the tube via an inlet (24) on the axis of symmetry tends to straighten the tube, thereby varying the tension in the ribbon. The tension, and thus the pressure, are sensed by measuring the natural frequency of electromagnetically-maintained transverse vibration of the ribbon. Adjustment of the initial tension of the ribbon enables temperature sensitivity of the gauge to be reduced. One arm of the tube can be omitted, the ribbon being connected chordally across the curved portion and the pressure being applied through the remaining arm, or alternatively the tube can be serpentine in form.

Fluid-pressure responsive apparatus

A borehole logging tool and cryostat therefor to maintain a semiconductor detector at cryogenic temperatures. The cryostat has an elongate single-phase heat sink of solid, thermally conductive material on which the detector is removably mounted. The other end of the heat sink is arranged to receive a liquid cryogen or the cold finger of a helium refrigerator, which is removed before a logging run; the detector being maintained at cryogenic temperatures during the logging run by absorption and retention of heat in the solid, single-phase heat sink. A rigid tube having similar thermal capacity and similarly pre-cooled to cryogenic temperatures, surrounds but is spaced from the heat sink. The tube and heat sink are supported by low thermal conductivity supports, the tube supports being arranged to permit changes in length of the tube.
