Techniques for enabling real time translation and transcription services between users that have contacted emergency services and PSAP operators who are coordinating the emergency services are discussed herein. For example, a system determines that the user and the PSAP operator speak different language, are unable to effectively hear each other, or are otherwise struggling to communicate effectively. The system can determine that an augmentation of the communication session is to be provided and can initiate translation or transcription services via network edge computing resources. The network edge computing resources are configured to generate the augmented communication data and enable the communication network to merge the augmented communication data and the original communication data in real time.

Emergency session translation and transcription via audio forking and machine learning

A solution for handling network congestion includes detecting, by a wireless network, a network congestion condition; detecting, by the wireless network, a failed attempt, by a user equipment (UE), to initiate a data session (e.g., a voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) call) over a packet data network (PDN) through the wireless network; transmitting, by the wireless network, to the UE, a notification of network congestion; and transmitting, by the wireless network, to the UE, a retry parameter set including a maximum number of fast retries, a fast retry time interval, and a slow retry time interval. In some examples, the retry parameter set further includes a rate at which the slow retry time interval increases with a value of a slow retry counter, and/or a maximum number of slow retries. In some examples, the retry scheme varies based on the severity of the congestion and/or roaming conditions.

UE retry during network overload

A mechanism for repeatedly adjusting communication with a subject head-mounted device based on a changing real time environment of the subject head-mounted device. By utilizing information about the environment context in which the head-mounted device exists, the optimal parameters may be more quickly determined and with less power. The environment context may be generated from sensors on the head-mounted device itself, or from a proximate sensor device. Thus, the communication properties (such as which protocol to use and what parameters) may be quickly determined in time to be useful to maintain a good connection despite movement of the head-mounted device, and despite the connection being dropped and reestablished. Furthermore, limited battery power is more judiciously utilized.

Head-mounted device communication adaptation using environment context

A solution for handling network congestion includes: attempting, by a user equipment (UE), to initiate a data session (e.g., a voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) call) over a packet data network (PDN); receiving, by the UE, a notification of network congestion; based on at least a fast retry timer and a fast retry counter, attempting, by the UE, fast retries up to a maximum number of fast retries at a fast retry time interval; and based on at least none of the initial attempt and the fast retries initiating the data session, attempting, by the UE, slow retries at a slow retry time interval until the data session is initiated or a trigger condition halts the slow retries. In some examples, the UE receives a retry parameter set from the network including the maximum number of fast retries, the fast retry time interval, and the slow retry time interval.

A computing system configured to determine a time, a frequency, or a volume that time-critical data are to arrive and generate an uplink scheduling request based on the determined time, frequency, or volume. The uplink scheduling request is then sent to a base station, requesting an uplink grant. The computing system then receives the uplink grant from the base station over the radio interface. The uplink grant contains scheduling information associated with transmission of the time-critical data. In response to arrival of the time-critical data, the computing system then transmits the time-critical data over the radio interface based on the uplink grant with no or little latency.

Arrangements and techniques for testing mobile devices within a test module. The test modules are portable and may be stacked to provide a modular testing system. A pulley system may be used to move an actuator arm horizontally in the X and Y directions. The actuator arm may be moved vertically in the Z direction such that a tip may engage a touchscreen of a mobile device being tested or a user interface element of the mobile device.

Modular wireless communication device testing system

Systems and methods for dynamically managing the states (e.g., enabling/disabling) of telecommunication services/features are disclosed. To do so, the system associates parameters (e.g., timers) with the impacted services/features. For example, when a user experiences issues with voice calls, he/she calls the telecommunications service provider (carrier) to help resolve the issue. A customer care representative may ask the user to temporality turn off the VoNR service to help alleviate the issue. When the user turns off (or toggles off) the VoNR service on his/her mobile device, the system can start a configurable timer (parameter) for the VoNR service. In this manner, the system can replace the conventional toggle on/off feature with a time-based feature. The system monitors the timer's value and when the timer's value reaches a target value (e.g., 24 hours, 1 week, etc.), the system alerts the user that the VoNR service will be turned on (or toggled on).

Dynamic management of telecommunication services at user equipment

Systems and methods of providing enriched call elements within outbound voice or video calls using rich communication services (RCS) are disclosed. The techniques include initiating a voice or video call from a first RCS-compatible device to a second RCS-compatible device, automatically sending an RCS invite or instant message including enriched call elements added from a business data server or from the first RCS-compatible device to the second RCS-compatible device, and presenting an indication of the enriched call elements to a user of the second RCS-compatible device concurrent with or prior to answering the voice or video call. Such enriched call elements may include location data, call priority data, call subject matter data, electronic images, or video clips.

Enriched calling

A mechanism for adjusting the data rate of data to be transmitted over a data channel based on anticipated changes in the communication channel, rather than based on the current state of the communication channel. This is done by accessing real time environment context data obtained from sensor data generated by one or more sensors of a sensor device, and then predicting a future capacity of a communication channel with a subject head-mounted device based on the accessed real time environment context data. The appropriate data rate is then determined based on this predicted future channel capacity rather than the current channel capacity. The data rate of data that is initiated towards the communication channel is then adjusted based on the determined data rate in anticipation of the predicted future capacity of the communication channel.

A user equipment (UE) for handover processes between communication networks includes one or more processors, and one or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the UE to receive, by the UE, first diagnostic information, determine whether to perform a first handover from a first communication network to a second communication network based on a first set of thresholds, the first set of thresholds being based on the first diagnostic information, receive, by the UE, an update of the first diagnostic information, and determine whether to perform a second handover from the first communication network to the second communication network based on an updated first set of thresholds, the updated first set of thresholds being based on the updated first diagnostic information.

An orchestration and mediation (O/M) stack to be installed in a user device that subscribes to a carrier system is provided. The O/M stack configures the user device to receive a policy for accessing a plurality of different network slices that are logical networks virtualized on a physical infrastructure of the carrier system. The O/M stack configures the user device to coordinate each application's access to different services provided by the plurality of different network slices. An application is allowed access to a particular network slice when the application and the user device meet a condition specified by the received policy for accessing the particular network slice.
