A system for drilling a wellbore includes a drill string, bottom hole apparatus, and a rotation regulator. The rotation regulator includes a compound planetary gear set with a first and second planetary unit. The first planetary unit is disposed in a proximal region of the rotation regulator from the drill string. The second planetary unit is disposed in a distal region of the rotation regulator from the drill string. The gear set includes a hollow central shaft. The central shaft is common between the first and second planetary units. The central shaft is of a different outer diameter at each planetary unit. A bearing is arranged between the first and second planetary units. The drill string, rotation regulator, and bottom hole apparatus are connected in series, so the rotation regulator mechanically transmits the rotation of the drill string into the bottom hole apparatus.

A crusher includes a housing having an inlet and an outlet at opposite axial sides, an impeller positioned proximate the inlet of the housing, and a shaft connected to the impeller and extending axially through the housing between the inlet and the outlet. At least two spaced apart support structures hold the shaft in the housing, where a plurality of dynamic blades extending outwardly from the shaft are alternatingly positioned between a plurality of fixed blades extending radially inward from an inner wall of the housing.

A one-way valve is disposed in each opening formed through the support ring to limit flow through the support ring in a direction from the downhole side of the body to the uphole side of the body.

A junk crusher device for crushing junk in a fluid stream includes a circular plate and a shaft. The circular plate includes fluid stream discharge holes and a bearing. The shaft is disposed within the bearing and includes detachably connected tear blades that are configured to rotate with the shaft. The junk crusher device further includes an impeller, hydraulically driven by the fluid stream, configured to rotate the shaft, an internal housing including fixed blades, and a body configured to receive the internal housing such that the internal housing is secured to an interior of the body. The rotating tear blades and fixed blades are configured to crush junk in the fluid stream. The fluid stream discharge holes disposed in the circular plate are configured to filter crushed junk.

Methods for operating drill strings in a wellbore include providing a drilling apparatus that includes a Kelly drive system for rotating the drill string that includes a bottom hole assembly (BHA) and a Kelly engaged with the Kelly drive system. The BHA includes a hydraulically driven rotating string reamer coupled to the drill string uphole from a drill bit and a near-bit reamer. The hydraulically driven rotating string reamer includes a hydraulic drive operatively coupled to a string reamer. The methods include translating the BHA axially through the wellbore and, while translating the BHA, circulating drilling fluid through the drill string, which causes the hydraulic drive to rotate the string reamer relative to the drill string, drill bit, and near-bit reamer. Rotation of the string reamer by the hydraulic drive reams away imperfections extending radially inward from a wellbore wall of the wellbore.

A casing string includes an uphole section, a downhole section, and a sealed chamber that is fluidically isolated from the uphole and downhole sections. The sealed chamber extends between the uphole and downhole sections. The casing string further includes a tube that is disposed within the sealed chamber and that fluidically connects the uphole and downhole sections to provide a fluid flow path that extends past the sealed chamber and through the casing string.

Casing strings and related methods of deployment in horizontal wells

A drill assembly has a stinger with downward oriented cups including an upper cup and a lower cup. The cups create a loss zone therebetween in a downhole environment. The downhole environment can be a shaft of a well. The loss zone can be filled with cement to plug the shaft. The downward oriented cups isolate the loss zone from the shaft and minimize the hydrostatic pressure above the upper cup.

An example liner hanger system includes a casing for lining a wellbore and a collar configured for connection to a part of the casing within the wellbore. The collar has a first shape and a liner hanger has a second shape that is based on the first shape. The liner hanger is configured to fit within, and to be supported by, the collar. The system also includes a screen connected to the liner hanger.
