Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may perform an access procedure for establishing or reestablishing a connection with a network entity. The UE may transmit, as part of the access procedure, one or more repetitions of a narrowband physical random access channel (NPRACH) preamble to the network entity. Each repetition of the one or more repetitions may include a set of symbol groups, and each symbol group of the set of symbol groups may include a set of symbols used by the UE for transmitting the NPRACH preamble. In some examples, the set of symbols may include a subset of symbols to which an OCC is applied. The set of symbols may be multiplexed with one or more other sets of symbols associated with respective preambles of one or more other UEs.

Techniques for increasing narrowband physical random access channel capacity

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for selecting a first orthogonal cover code (OCC) codeword from an OCC matrix for a transmission occurring during a first transmission time interval based on a first pseudo-random codeword allocator function, such as a first pseudo-random permutation matrix, corresponding to the first transmission time interval; and sending the transmission during the first transmission time interval using the first OCC codeword.

Interference randomization in orthogonal cover codes

A method for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) includes modulating a symbol stream onto at least one subcarrier to generate an uplink signal in a frequency domain for transmitting to a receiver in a non-terrestrial network. The method also includes applying an amount of phase rotation to the at least one subcarrier in the frequency domain. The method further includes transforming the uplink signal from the frequency domain into a time domain uplink signal. The method includes transmitting the time domain uplink signal to the receiver, after applying the phase rotation to the at least one subcarrier.

Compensation of uplink timing errors for non-terrestrial networks

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a first indication of a set of reference signal instances within a set of resources. The UE may receive a second indication of a resource element format of a reference signal instance of the set of reference signal instances, the resource element format including one or more null resource elements and one or more reference signal resource elements. The UE may additionally receive, from a base station, a reference signal for estimating carrier frequency offset (CFO) based on the first indication of the set of reference signal instances and the second indication of the resource element format of the reference signal instance. The UE may then communicate with the base station based on receiving the reference signal.

Aspects described herein relate to generating, using an initial seed and a pseudo-random shift value, a scrambling sequence, scrambling, using the scrambling sequence, one or more codewords as part of generating a baseband signal for a wireless communication channel, and transmitting the baseband signal to a network node.
