A communication system is described. The communication system includes a number of nodes which frequency hop without coordination from a frequency table. To establish communication, the nodes scan across a band for one or more signals of interest. The signals of interest include one or more of a synchronization signal, a control signal, and a traffic signal. When transmitting the signals of interest, the nodes determine one or more characteristic for the signal, such as a channel, based on a spectral occupancy of interferers in the band.

Opportunistic communication waveform

A high-frequency beyond line of sight ad-hoc communication system is disclosed. In embodiments, the system includes an originating node. The originating node is configured to transmit a transmission. In, the system includes a destination node. The destination node is configured to receive the transmission using one or more antennas. In, the system includes one or more relay nodes, which are configured to relay the transmission from the operating mode to the destination mode in a time diverse manner. The relay nodes further comprise a controller, configured to facilitate high-frequency beyond line of sight communication between the originating node and the destination node, wherein the transmission is carried in accordance with a TDMA based waveform that supports frames and time slots. In embodiments, the one or more relay nodes are further configured to relay the transmission from the originating mode to the destination mode in a frequency diverse manner.

Ad-hoc HF time frequency diversity

A communication system including a transmit antenna that transmits an output signal including output information, a network interface that receives state data regarding a first remote platform, and a processing circuit. The processing circuit predicts a performance of a communication link that the transmit antenna uses to transmit the output signal based on the state data, evaluates a performance condition based on the estimated performance and a threshold performance, responsive to the performance condition being satisfied, uses the transmit antenna to transmit the output signal, and responsive to the performance condition not being satisfied, at least one of (i) adjusts at least one of a time parameter or a frequency parameter that the transmit antenna uses to transmit the output signal, or (ii) provide an instruction to a second remote platform to cause the second remote platform to transmit the output information to the first remote platform.

System for data link networking based on machine learning

A method and system is disclosed for a local approach within a distributed multi-hop radio environment that switches between a stronger and weaker preamble acquisition. The robustness of the preamble acquisition plays a large part in the performance of a given Signal-in-Space (SiS) modulation scheme. A more robust preamble acquisition can result in a higher packet completion rate at a receiver free of interfering signals. A less robust preamble acquisition can result in less chance that an interfering signal will be acquired, thereby allowing increased spatial reuse and network throughput. To maximize network capacity, the disclosed method leverages both cases by dynamically switching between the less and more robust preamble acquisitions depending on the topology of the distributed multi-hop radio environment and desired quality of service.

Slot-by-slot preamble acquisition control to increase network capacity in mobile ad hoc networks

The present disclosure is directed to a system and method for error correction utilizing turbo code and signal transmission with error correction utilizing turbo code. A sequence of data is divided into a plurality of elements. Each element is encoded separately in parallel utilizing turbo encoding and decoded separately in parallel utilizing turbo decoding. The encoding and decoding of each element may be performed by an encoder and a decoder dedicated to that respective element. The control mechanism that controls each encoder and decoder may be identical, similar to a SIMD (single instruction, multiple data) architecture, allowing each element to be encoded and decoded separately in parallel utilizing turbo encoding and decoding. The encoding and decoding of each element separately in parallel utilizing turbo encoding and decoding may utilize the same interleaver permutation.
