Described and illustrated is a system for management of diabetes that includes an infusion pump, glucose sensor and controller with a method programmed into the controller. The infusion pump is configured to deliver insulin to a subject. The system provides the user with the ability to understand the effects of bolus insulin dosing upon their glucose levels. Specifically, the system provides a message that must include: (a) the trend of the user's glucose; (b) the recommended bolus; and (c) the actual bolus.

Described are methods and systems to allow users to select a basic mode or an advanced mode in which additional features can be customized for the user based on structured queries presented to the user.

Described are techniques governing the glycemic ranges that are applied and governed in the meter so the user is not required to understand or know the editing rules in order to use or set up the meter. These guiding principles will come into effect each time the user chooses to edit the ranges. There will be appropriate warning messages to inform the user if the user does not set the ranges correctly.
