An injection mold includes a mold insert frame having several openings extending in an axial direction (z). Each opening accommodates a mold insert encompassing a cavity, suitable to receive during operation melted plastic to form a plastic part. The several openings with the mold inserts are distributed around a center opening of the mold insert frame. A nozzle head is arranged in the center opening of the mold insert frame. A primary melt channel, extending in the axial direction (z), and per cavity a secondary melt channel are each interconnected at a dorsal end to the primary melt channel and at a distal end to a cavity by a nozzle tip attached to the nozzle head. Each mold insert includes a first cooling channel surrounding the cavity and being in fluid communication with a first cooling circuit across the mold insert frame.

Injection mold with a side gate nozzle

An injection molding device and related method includes a mold plate with at least one pocket having at least one discharge opening to discharge melted plastic from the pocket into at least one mold cavity interconnected to the pocket and a nozzle including a housing, which during operation is interconnected to the pocket. Per discharge opening a needle is arranged displaceable in an axial direction in the housing between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position the needle closes the thereto related discharge opening and is thereby preventing melted plastic from flowing from the pocket into the at least one mold cavity. In the open position, the needle releases the discharge opening such that melted plastic flows from the pocket into the at least one mold cavity. Furthermore, a melt channel is discharging into the pocket to supply melted plastic into the pocket.

Injection molding device

The present disclosure is directed to an injection nozzle with a nozzle head including at least one discharge opening for injecting molding material into a mold cavity of a thereto interconnected injection mold and forming therein a molded body. At least one positively controlled closure element movably supported in the nozzle head for closing a communication opening in the connected injection mold. An actuator cylinder comprises a first piston which is interconnected to the closure element. The first piston is arranged movable between a first position, in which the closure element is fully closed, and a second position in which the closure element is fully open. A second piston is interconnected to the closure element, and is arranged movable between a third position in which the second piston is not interconnected to the closure element and a fourth position in which the closure element is limited in an intermediate position.

Hot runner injection nozzle and actuator for injection molding device

An injection nozzle for an injection molding device comprising a nozzle head, an actuator, a drive train connected to the actuator, and at least one closure element. The drive train configured for moving the at least one closure element arranged in the nozzle head in a first direction. The drive train comprising a cam mechanism that comprises a cam head. The cam head comprising a cam head block. Per closure element, the cam head block comprising a bracket. The bracket comprising at least one inlay. Per closure element, the at least one inlay comprising a first drive surface configured for engaging and driving a second drive surface arranged at the closure element at least during closing of the closure element. Per closure element, the cam head block comprising a third drive surface configured f engaging and driving a fourth drive surface arranged at the closure element at least during opening of the closure element.

Hot runner injection nozzle and drive train

The present disclosure is directed to an injection nozzle for an injection molding device comprising a drive train for at least one closure element arranged movable in a nozzle head in a first direction. The drive train comprises a cam mechanism with a cam head comprising a wedge and at least one side plate. The wedge and the side plate are together arranged moveable in a second direction. Per closure element the wedge comprises at least one first drive surface which interacts with a second drive surface arranged at the closure element at least during closing of the closure element. The at least one side plate comprises a third drive surface which interacts with a fourth drive surface arranged at the closure element at least during opening of the closure element.

A nozzle heater assembly coupled to a hot runner nozzle includes a heater support made of at least two support segments spaced apart by a gap. A heater element secured to both support segments is configured to limit the gap between the two segments. The nozzle heater assembly to be coupled to a hot runner may also include in other applications a heater support formed of a single piece and configured as a hollow helical tube including at least two axial gaps. A heater element is secured to the helical tube, where the helical tube can be compressed or stretched axially to alter a clamping force generated when the helical tube and the heater are coupled to the hot runner nozzle.

A hot runner injection molding apparatus to manufacture molded parts with a manifold having an inlet melt channel and a plurality of outlet melt channels, a plurality of injection molding cavities and a plurality of side gating nozzles coupled to the outlet melt channels and to the injection molding cavities. Each nozzle has a nozzle flange segment including a first melt channel disposed along a first axis and each side gating nozzle further includes a separate and removable nozzle head segment that is coupled to the flange segment via a sliding connector element that provides for an axial movement of the nozzle head segment or of the nozzle flange segment. Each nozzle head segment retains at least two nozzle tips that extend at least partially outside an outer surface of the nozzle head segment and each nozzle tip is surrounded by a nozzle seal element.

Modular side gating nozzle and mold

A valve gated hot runner system that includes a single movable plate (or movable frame) that retains multiple valve pins. A linear actuator is coupled to rigid transmission elements that convey a linear motion from the actuator to several rotary components via a direct or indirect contact between at least a portion of the rigid transmission elements and the rotary components. The rigid transmission elements and the rotary components are connected to a common plate. The rotary components are further coupled to the movable plate (frame) and through their full rotation or turning lift or translate the movable plate (frame) with the valve pins to open and close the communication between hot runner nozzles and corresponding mold cavities. The actuator can be electrical, electro-magnetic, pneumatic or hydraulic.

Hot runner system

A removable heating device for a hot runner nozzle contains an elongated heating unit which exhibits at least one longitudinal slot which does not extend as far in the longitudinal direction as the length of a substantially cylindrical heating unit and which enables an enlargement of the inner diameter of the heating unit by its open end. The heating device further has a channel disposed in the outer surface of the heating unit in which an electrical heating element is disposed. Furthermore, a heater/thermocouple assembly contains such a heating device and at least one thermocouple for detecting the temperature in the front end region of the hot runner nozzle.

A hot runner injection molding apparatus may comprise a machine injection unit with a machine nozzle, a first machine platen adjacent the machine nozzle, and a hot runner system. The first machine platen may include a multi-segment chamber. The hot runner system may include a movable plate, a manifold, a plurality of hot runner nozzles, and one or more actuators. The movable plate may be located in a first segment of the multi-segment chamber. The manifold and the plurality of hot runner nozzles may be located in a second segment of the multi-segment chamber. The one or more actuators may be located in a third segment of the multi-segment chamber. The movable plate may drive the plurality of valve pins and the manifold. The one or more actuators may drive the movable plate.

Injection molding apparatus with integrated hot runner system

A hot runner nozzle assembly includes a nozzle heater, a hot runner nozzle, a nozzle tip, a nozzle tip seal surrounding the nozzle tip and a connecting element positioned to removably couple the tip seal to the nozzle tip and to create a first contact seal between the nozzle tip and the tip seal and a second annular contact seal between the tip seal and a mold component. The nozzle tip is made or shaped via a sintering process from a metal matrix composite (MMC) material having a first coefficient of thermal expansion. The tip seal is made or shaped from a ceramic based powder material, having a second coefficient of thermal expansion that is different from the first coefficient of thermal expansion. In operation this hot runner nozzle assembly provides an improved heat profile and a reduced leakage at the tip area under a wider operating processing window.
