The present invention relates to an insecticidal enriched extract (biopesticide) isolated from the stem of(Wight) Sleumer (formerly(Miers) useful for the insect free storage and transport of grains and seed. The insecticidal activity of the enriched extract (biopesticide) of the invention is ascribed to compound/s other than camptothecin. The invention further relates to the process for preparation thereof, containing Compounds of general formula 1 and formula 2 (General formula 1) wherein R1=CH, CHOAC and wherein R2=COOH, or (I) and R3=H. This invention relates to diterpenes of general formula (1) belonging to labdane class, isolated from, being useful for prevention, treatment, inhibition or controlling growth and proliferation of mycobacterial activity in mammals. The invention further discloses process for isolation of the fractions containing the same. 

C-9 oxygen functionalized labdane derivates

Active fractions exhibiting anti-tuberculous activity from the plant(family&#x2014;Sterculiaceae) are described. Methanol extracts of the aerial part ofexhibited activity against MtbGS in primary screening of biosynthetic assay. Subsequent fractionation was carried out in organic solvents. Out of all these, two fractions (fraction D and K) are exhibiting inhibitory activity againstglutamine synthetase activity. These fractions D and K are inhibiting 74% and 44% respectively at 7.5 mg/ml concentrations. The determined ICvalue of the fraction K is found to be 4.5 mg/ml from the dose response curve against the purifiedGlutamine Synthetase. The ICvalue forBCG is 1.56 &#x3bc;g/ml. It was observed that there was no significant effect on proliferation of HL-60 cell line at 10&#xd7;MIC levels of the hits. This data indicated that these compounds could be initially considered to be safe.

This invention discloses diterpenes class of novel compounds of general formula I from a novel source. More particularly the invention relates to extracts/fractions containing pimarane diterpenes from(Lamiaceae), useful for prevention, treatment, inhibition or controlling growth and proliferation of mycobacterial activity in mammals. The invention further relates to extracts, fractions standardized to diterpenes class of novel compounds useful for the treatment of cancers.
