Various embodiments are generally directed to an apparatus, method and other techniques for detecting, by one or more sensor components, at least one sensor input, and executing, by logic, at least one instruction to cause an event on a wearable wireless device, the event comprising at least one of a change in a physical parameter on the wearable wireless device and a wireless communication with a computing device via a transceiver.

An example apparatus includes: a first earpiece to be positioned proximate a first ear of a user and including: a first microphone to transduce ambient sound external to the first earpiece into a first ambient audio signal, the ambient sound including sound indicative of a potential danger; and a first speaker to transduce a first input audio signal into music and the first ambient audio signal into the sound indicative of the potential danger; and a second earpiece to be positioned proximate a second ear of the user and including: a second microphone to transduce the ambient sound external to the second earpiece into a second ambient audio signal, the ambient sound including the sound indicative of the potential danger; and a second speaker to transduce a second input audio signal into the music and the second ambient audio signal into the sound indicative of the potential danger.

A mechanism is described for facilitating wind detection and wind noise reduction in computing environments according to one embodiment. An apparatus of embodiments, as described herein, includes wind detection logic to detect wind associated with the apparatus including a wearable computing device, wherein the wind is detected based on samples from multiple microphones and extraction and use of multiple features including spectral sub-band centroid (SSC) features and coherence features; and decision and execution logic to reduce wind noise associated with the detected wind.

Detection and reduction of wind noise in computing environments

A wearable device for binaural audio is described. The wearable device includes a feedback mechanism, a microphone, an always on binaural recorder (AOBR), and a processor. The AOBR is to capture ambient noise via the microphone and interpret the ambient noise. An alert is issued by the processor to the feedback mechanism based on a notification detected via the microphone in the ambient noise.

Methods, systems and articles of manufacture for a wearable electronic device having an audio source identifier are disclosed. Example audio source identifiers disclosed herein include first and second audio sensors disposed at first and second locations, respectively, on a wearable electronic device. Such audio source identifiers also include a phase shift determiner to determine a phase shift between a first sample of first audio captured at the first audio sensor and a second sample of the first audio captured at the second audio sensor. The first audio includes first speech generated by a first speaker wearing the wearable electronic device. Example audio source identifiers further include a speaker identifier to determine, based on the phase shift determined by the phase shift determiner, whether second audio includes speech generated by a second speaker wearing the wearable electronic device.

Methods and apparatus to identify a source of speech captured at a wearable electronic device

A mechanism is described for facilitating context-based cancellation and amplification of acoustical signals in acoustical environments according to one embodiment. An apparatus of embodiments, as described herein, includes detection and recognition logic to detect an acoustical signal being emitted by an acoustical signal source; evaluation, estimation, and footprint logic to classify the acoustical signal as an emergency acoustical signal or a non-emergency acoustical signal, wherein the classification is based on a footprint or a footprint identification (ID) associated with the acoustical signal; acoustical signal cancellation logic to cancel the acoustical signal if the acoustical signal is regarded as the non-emergency acoustical signal based on the footprint or the footprint ID; and acoustical signal amplification logic to amplify the acoustical signal if the acoustical signal is classified as the emergency acoustical signal based on the footprint or the footprint ID.

Wearable electronic device technology is disclosed. In an example, a wearable electronic device can include a handling portion that facilitates donning the wearable electronic device on a user. The wearable electronic device can also include a user authentication sensor associated with the handling portion and configured to sense a biometric characteristic of the user while the user is donning the wearable electronic device. In addition, the wearable electronic device can include a security module to determine whether the sensed biometric characteristic indicates an authorized user of the wearable electronic device.

Various systems and methods for air gesture-based composition and instruction systems are described herein. A composition system for composing gesture-based performances may receive an indication of an air gesture performed by a user; reference a mapping of air gestures to air gesture notations to identify an air gesture notation corresponding to the air gesture; and store an indication of the air gesture notation in a memory of the computerized composition system. A wearable sensor system is disclosed that provides a measurable magnetic field that changes horizontally within the range of motion of human limbs. The wearable sensor system includes a magnetic sensing device, and one or more magnet devices that provide the measurable magnetic field with a strength exceeding the Earth's magnetic field. To this end, the magnetic sensing system provides a 'personal' magnetic field about a user, with that magnetic field traveling with the user and overpowering adjacent interfering fields. The wearable sensor system may include a sensor arrangement that measures a strength of the personal magnetic field and field direction to perform horizontal localization, and may send a representation of a same to a remote computing device to cause an action to occur. Some such actions include output of pre-recorded or synthesized musical notes, for example.

Processing techniques and device configurations for performing and controlling output effects at a plurality of wearable devices are generally described herein. In an example, a processing technique may include receiving, at a computing device, an indication of a triggering gesture that occurs at a first wearable device, determining an output effect corresponding to the indication of the triggering gesture, and in response to determining the output effect, transmitting commands to computing devices that are respectively associated with a plurality of wearable devices, the commands causing the plurality of wearable devices to generate the output effect at the plurality of wearable devices. In further examples, output effects such as haptic feedback, light output, or sound output, may be performed by the plurality of wearable devices, associated computing devices, or other controllable equipment.

Dynamic effects processing and communications for wearable devices

Systems and methods may be used to provide effects corresponding to movement of instrument objects or other objects. A method may include receiving sensor data from an object based on movement of the object, recognizing a gesture from the sensor data, and determining an effect, such as a visualization or audio effect corresponding to the gesture. The method may include causing the effect to be output in response to the determination.

Sensor driven enhanced visualization and audio effects

The present disclosure describes a number of embodiments related to devices, systems, and methods locating a an object using ultra-wide band (UWB) radio transceivers embedded in carpet or other flexible material that may be rolled up and moved to various locations. Once in a location, the carpet may be unrolled and the multiple embedded radio transceivers may receive a signal from a tag attached to the object sending UWB radio signals. Based on the signals received by the UWB radio transceivers, various processes including time-difference on arrival, time-of-flight, and phase shift may be used to determine the location or the movement of the object.
