A low fatigue rewindable optical fiber cable comprises a core having at least one optical transmission element, a dielectric armouring surrounding the core and a sheath surrounding the dielectric armouring. Particularly, the low fatigue rewindable optical fiber cable is characterized by a fatigue performance ratio (FPR) which is a ratio of a cross sectional area of the sheath and a cross sectional area of the dielectric armouring and is between 3 to 4.5 that enables at least 10 cyclic winds and unwinds carried out on a drum with a diameter of 40 times an outer diameter of the low fatigue rewindable optical fiber cable.

The present disclosure provides an intermittently bonded optical fibre ribbon. The intermittently bonded optical fibre ribbon includes a plurality of optical fibres. The plurality of optical fibres are bonded intermittently along the length by a plurality of bonded portions spaced apart by a plurality of un-bonded portions. The plurality of bonded portions is defined by a bonded length Land the plurality of un-bonded portions is defined by an un-bonded length. In addition, at least one of the bonded length Land the un-bonded length varies along a predefined length of adjacent optical fibres of the plurality of optical fibres.

A ribbed and grooved fiber cable () includes a core with a plurality of optical fibers, a sheath () enveloping the core and one or more strength members () embedded in the sheath (). The strength members () are coated with a water blocking coating material having at least one of an ultraviolet (UV) curable water swellable resin composition and a layer of ethylene acrylic acid (EAA). Particularly, the water blocking coating material applied over the strength members () has a thickness of 50&#xb1;10 microns. The sheath () of the cable () has at least one of a plurality of ribs () and grooves () on an external surface of the sheath (), and a plurality of ribs () and grooves () on an internal surface of the sheath (). The plurality of ribs () have variable height.

An intermittently bonded optical fibre ribbon includes a plurality of optical fibres. The plurality of optical fibres is defined by at least two adjacent central optical fibers, a first plurality of optical fibers and a second plurality of fibers. The at least two adjacent central optical fibers are sandwiched between the first plurality of optical fibers and the second plurality of optical fibers. The at least two adjacent central optical fibers are fully bonded along length of the at least two central fibres. The first plurality of fibers and the second plurality of optical fibers are bonded partially along non-central length of the plurality of optical fibres.
