A method includes: providing a device having a counter that stores a cycle count measuring a number of clock cycles since the device was last turned ON or a timer that stores an elapsed time since the device was last turned ON; (a) flagging a first or additional defined memory location when the cycle count or the elapsed time reaches a first or additional first milestone; (b) unflagging the first or additional defined memory location when the cycle count or the elapsed time reaches a second or additional second milestone, wherein the second or additional second milestone is greater than the first or additional first milestone; (c) determining that the device is turned OFF and then ON again; repeating steps (a) through (c) a specified number of times; and resetting the device or turning a program ON when all the first or additional memory locations reach a specified flag configuration.

Wireless control device and methods thereof

A wireless control device includes a power source, one or more sensors, one or more switches, a wireless transceiver circuit, an antenna connected to the wireless transceiver circuit, and a processor communicably coupled to the power source, the one or more sensors, the one or more switches, and the wireless transceiver circuit. The processor receives a data from the one or more sensors or the one or more switches, determines a pre-defined action associated with the data that identifies one or more external devices and one or more tasks, and transmits one or more control signals via the wireless transceiver circuit and the antenna that instruct the identified external device(s) to perform the identified task(s).

In one embodiment, an architecture for redundant control of wireless devices (e.g., wireless light fixtures, wireless light strips, wireless window shades, or other wireless devices) of a home automation system is provided that uses a combination of WLAN and WPAN communication. During normal operation of the home automation system, control commands generated in response to user input in a control application (app) on a control device (e.g., a remote control, mobile device, or other electronic device) are transmitted via a WLAN (e.g., Wi-Fi) to a bridge device (e.g., a lamp module or wireless keypad) proximate to the wireless device, which forwards the commands over a WPAN (e.g., BLE) to the wireless device. In the absence of an available WLAN connection (e.g., due to failure, prior to its configuration, etc.), the control device may send control commands via the WPAN (e.g., BLE) directly to the wireless device.

Redundant control for wireless devices in a home automation system

Various wireless communication methods are provided for controlling two or more wireless devices. In one embodiment, various processes optimize the wireless communication, especially when multiple devices are present in a system or a network. In another embodiment, various controlling devices are accommodated in a network of devices at different points in time. The speed at which the new controlling device comes into a range of the networked devices is improved with existing signatures of different wireless protocols or devices present in the network. In another embodiment, a change in the signal strength of a wireless device can be used to detect an object or person, such as an intruder.

Wireless communication methods

A lighting device having a plurality of analog LEDs mounted on a substrate, a plurality of addressable digital LEDs mounted on the substrate, a first LED circuit connected to the plurality of analog LEDs, and a second LED circuit connected to the plurality of addressable digital LEDs. The plurality of analog LEDs and the plurality of addressable digital LEDs are arranged in an array or pattern on the substrate.

LED lighting device

A lighting device having an AC/DC or DC/DC power converter, a controller/processor electrically connected to the power converter, a LED current control circuit communicably coupled to the controller/processor and electrically connected to the power converter, and two or more LEDs communicably coupled to the LED current control circuit. The controller/processor determines a first and second number of counts for the LEDs to be ON to produce a blended light having a specified color, and generates control signal(s) based on the first and second number of counts. The LED current control circuit generates a first and second on/off signals having an on/off cycle time and first and second ON times corresponding to the first and second number of counts for the LEDs in response to the one or more control signals. The LEDs produce the blended light having the specified color in response to the first and second on/off signals.

A lighting device includes a AC/DC or DC/DC power converter, a controller/processor electrically connected to the AC/DC or DC/DC power converter, a light emitting diode (LED) current control circuit communicably coupled to the controller/processor and electrically connected to the AC/DC or DC/DC power converter, and one or more LEDs electrically connected to the LED current control circuit.

Wireless lighting control system

A method for controlling lighting devices includes providing the lighting devices. Each lighting device includes two or more LEDs, an AC/DC or DC/DC power converter, a controller/processor electrically connected to the AC/DC or DC/DC power converter, a light emitting diode (LED) current control circuit communicably coupled to the controller/processor and electrically connected to the AC/DC or DC/DC power converter and the two or more LEDs. One or more control signals are generated using the controller/processor and sending the one or more control signals to the LED current control circuit. An on/off signal having a cycle time for each LED is generated using the LED current control circuit in response to the one or more control signals and sending the on/off signal to each LED. A blended light is produced having a specified color based on how long each LED is turned ON and/or OFF during the cycle time.

Wireless lighting control methods

A lighting device includes a DC/DC power converter, a controller/processor electrically connected to the DC/DC power converter, a light emitting diode (LED) current control circuit communicably coupled to the controller/processor and electrically connected to the DC/DC power converter, and two or more LEDs comprising at least a first color LED and a second color LED electrically connected to the LED current control circuit. The LED current control circuit provides an on/off signal having a cycle time to each LED in response to one or more control signals received from the controller/processor such that the two or more LEDs produce a blended light having a specified color based on how long each LED is turned ON and/or OFF during the cycle time.
