Provided are bimodal linear low density polyethylene copolymers (B-LLDPE copolymers) that have a combination of improved properties comprising at least one processability characteristic similar or better than that of an unblended monomodal ZN-LLDPE and a dart impact property similar or better than that of an unblended monomodal MCN-LLDPE. For the various aspects, the B-LLDPE copolymer has a density from 0.8900 to 0.9300 g/cm; a melt index (I) from 0.1 g/10 min. to 5 g/10 min.; a Mfrom 600,000 to 1,900,000 g/mol; and a SHI from 5.35 to 75 η*(1.0)/η*(100). The B-LLDPE copolymer can be further characterized by a first melt flow ratio (I/I) from 32 to 140 and a first molecular weight ratio (M/M) from 4.5 to 11.

Bimodal linear low density polyethylene copolymer

Provided are bimodal linear low density polyethylene copolymers (B-LLDPE copolymers) that have a combination of improved properties comprising at least one processability characteristic similar or better than that of an unblended monomodal ZN-LLDPE and a dart impact property similar or better than that of an unblended monomodal MCN-LLDPE. For the various aspects, the B-LLDPE copolymer has a density from 0.8900 to 0.9300 g/cm; a melt index (I) from 0.1 g/10 min. to 5 g/10 min.; a Mfrom 600,000 to 1,200,000 g/mol; and a hexane extractables content present in a value of up to 2.6 wt. % as measured according to ASTM D-5227:95. The B-LLDPE copolymer can be further characterized by a first melt flow ratio (I/I) from 25 to 65 and a first molecular weight ratio (M/M) from 3.5 to 5.5.

Blends of linear low density polyethylenes

Provided are various bimodal polyethylene, including but not limited to a bimodal polyethylene for a pipe having a density of from 0.9340 to 0.9470 gram/cubic centimeters (g/ccm), a melt index (12) of from 0.1 to 0.7 gram/10 minute, a melt flow ratio (121/12) of from 20 to 90. The bimodal polyethylene includes a high molecular weight polyethylene component and a low molecular weight polyethylene component which are a reaction product of a polymerization process performed in a single reactor and that employs a bimodal polymerization catalyst system. The bimodal polymerization catalyst system includes a bimodal catalyst system of bis(2-pentamethylphenylamido)ethyl)amine Zirconium dibenzyl and either (tetramethylcyclopentadienyl)(n-propylcyclopentadienyl)Zirconium dichloride or (tetramethylcyclopentadienyl)(n-propylcyclopentadienyl)zirconium dimethyl in a 3.0:1 molar ratio; and a trim catalyst of (tetramethylcyclopentadienyl)(n-propylcyclopentadienyl)Zirconium dichloridedimethyl in heptane added to adjust melt.

Bimodal polyethylene

An ethylene/1-hexene copolymer has a density from 0.9541 to 0.9600 gram per cubic centimeter (g/cm), a molecular mass dispersity (D=M/M) from greater than 2.0 to 3.5; and a Z-average molecular weight (Mz) from 120,000 to 240,000 grams per mole (g/mol). Ethylene/1-hexene copolymer

A multilayer blown film having an inner layer, a first outer layer, and a second outer layer, wherein the inner layer comprises an ethylene-based polymer having a MWCDI value greater than 0.9, and a melt index ratio (I10/I2) that meets the following equation: I10/I2&#x2265;7.0&#x2212;1.2&#xd7;log (I2); and the first outer layer and the second outer layer independently comprise a polyethylene composition which comprises the reaction product of ethylene and, optionally, one or more alpha olefin comonomers, wherein the polyethylene composition is characterized by the following properties: (a) a melt index, I, of from 0.1 to 2.0 g/10 min; (b) a density of from 0.910 to 0.930 g/cc; (c) a melt flow ratio, I/I, of from 6.0 to 7.6; and (d) a molecular weight distribution, (Mw/Mn) of from 2.5 to 4.0.

Blown films with improved properties

The present invention relates to a monolayer film comprising a mixture of a first linear polyethylene having a density in the range of from 0.926 to 0.970 g/cm; a second LLDPE having a density in the range of from 0.868 to 0.920 g/cm; and a nucleating agent to get to a better balance of low WVTR and dart while still allowing film production from it on standard monolayer equipment without need for co-extrusion capability. The LLDPE with the higher density is further characterized by having at least 57 percent (by weight of that component) of molecules having a weight average molecular weight in the range of 31,000 g/mole to 1,000,000 g/mole. These components are blended in various ratios ranging from 50 to 90% of the higher density LLDPE, 10 to 50% of the lower density LLDPE and at least 50 ppm of the nucleating agent.
