The invention relates to the coding and decoding of data, in particular for visual representation. For this, a method () is provided for coding an initial data set (), in which a respective initial data value (P, P, P, P) is established for a respective plurality of initial data points (), for generating a compressed data set (), comprising a primary coding of the initial data set () to generate an intermediate data set () and a secondary coding of the intermediate data set () to generate the compressed data set (). In this way, the primary coding comprises the following steps: establishing a plurality of data point blocks (), each having a plurality of initial data points () of the initial data set (); determining a block data value () for each data point block () from the plurality of initial data values (P, P, P, P) within the respective data point block (); checking each data point block () for compliance with a tolerance criterion; and generating the intermediate data set () in such a way that the intermediate data set () contains the block data value () as an individual data value for each data point block () in which the tolerance criterion is observed, and same contains the individual initial data values (P, P, P, P) at the initial data points () of the respective data point block () for each data point block () in which the tolerance criterion is not observed.

Data compression by means of adaptive subsampling

The invention relates to a method for compressing an input data set, which comprises one or more input values, comprising the following steps: determining, for each input value, a tolerance range; generating encoded lossy values by a lossy encoding of the input values; generating output values associated with the input values, in particular by decoding the encoded lossy values; generating difference values by subtracting each decoded lossy value from the respectively associated input value; comparing each difference value with the respectively associated determined tolerance range; generating encoded correction values associated with the encoded lossy values on the basis of the difference values, wherein the encoded correction values are offset values, which can be added to the associated encoded lossy values; and providing an output data record as a function of a comparison of the difference values with the tolerance ranges and on the basis of the encoded lossy values and/or the encoded correction values.

Method, device, and computer program product for compressing an input data set

The present invention relates to a method and a computer program product for generating a high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) voxel data set of an object. The high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) voxel data set is generated with the aid of a computed tomography scanner. In some aspects of the present disclosure a 3D image data set is generated by acquiring computed tomography images of the object. In other aspects of the present disclosure the 3D voxel data set of the object is generated with the aid of an image data reconstruction algorithm.

The present invention relates to a method and a computer program product for generating an artifact-reduced voxel data record of an object. The artifact-reduced voxel data record of the object is generated with the aid of a computed tomography scanner. In some aspects of the present disclosure, a first image data record and a second image data record is generated by acquiring computed tomography images of the object. In still other aspects of the present disclosure, the artifact-reduced voxel data record of the object is generated with the aid of an image data reconstruction algorithm.
