A surgical connection device for connecting two rod elements in one or more relative orientation includes a main body with receiving openings. The rod elements can be fixed to the main body by fixing elements. At least one receiving opening has an aperture at a receiving opening edge, through which aperture a rod element can be inserted into the receiving opening transversely to the orientation of the receiving opening. A connection system includes a surgical connection device and two or more rod elements.

An instrument for guiding a rod into a holder of an implant, in particular a pedicle screw, includes a coupling unit for coupling the instrument to the implant, in particular a head of the pedicle screw, a threaded rod that can be positioned in the axial direction relative to the coupling unit, and at least one internally threaded segment that is arranged in an axially fixed manner relative to the coupling unit, and can be positioned in a radial direction relative to the threaded rod, and prestressed toward the threaded rod by a prestressing element applying a radial force. The internally threaded segment can be brought into engagement with, and disengaged from, the male thread of the threaded rod by radial positioning. Thread flanks of the threaded rod and thread flanks of the internally threaded segment face each other and are each formed with an undercut.

A bone screw system includes a bone screw having a tulip that forms a seat for a longitudinal support for surgical connection of adjacent bone screws. The tulip has a tulip thread into which a clamping screw is screwed. The clamping screw has a clamping screw thread for locking the longitudinal support by clamping within the seat. The clamping screw thread is provided on the run-in side with a thread chamfer. The thread chamfer is introduced to the clamping screw thread while chamfering a thread elevation in the radial direction.

A bone screw includes a receiving sleeve having a sleeve wall which forms a seat for a longitudinal support for the surgical connection of adjacent bone screws. The bone screw includes an internal thread. A thread turn of the internal thread has a widened lead-in region on the thread lead-in side.

A polyaxial pedicle screw includes a screwed shaft section for anchoring the pedicle screw in a vertebra, on one axial end of which a shaft head is configured which is coupled in a rotating and/or pivoting manner as well as in a tensile-force transmitting manner to a receiving sleeve for a longitudinal support. A surgical instrument for manipulating and positioning a surgical rod relative to a surgical implant features two legs rotatably coupled to each other by a hinge. Each leg includes a working end. The working ends come into engagement with the implant upon closing the instrument by rotating the legs around the hinge and pivotally position the instrument relative to the implant around a swivel axis transverse to its longitudinal axis. At least one of the legs includes a contact structure for a surgical rod by which the rod is manipulated and positioned upon swiveling the instrument around the swivel axis relative to a rod seating of the implant. At least one of the legs includes a guide structure for guiding a fixation screw, to be screwed in, for the rod and/or for a tool for screwing in the fixation screw after having positioned the rod in the rod seating.

A bone screw includes a screw head and a seating sleeve or tulip on the screw head. The bone screw includes two sleeve flanks having a thread. A seat for a rod for surgical connection of adjacent bone screws is formed between the sleeve flanks. On at least one of the sleeve flanks, a guide surface extending in the circumferential direction for a clamping screw to be screwed into the thread is configured on the run-in side, with the guide surface offset in the radial direction vis-&#xe0;-vis the thread diameter of the female thread.

A medical screw driver includes a shank having a coupling for a handling member for applying torque to the shank. A screw driver portion can be inserted in a pedicle screw head and transmit torque to the screw head. A sleeve is rotatable about the shank and includes a male thread for coupling to a female thread formed at the pedicle screw head. The sleeve has a first sleeve portion having a first engaging portion and a second sleeve portion having a second engaging portion. The first and second engaging portions engage so that the second sleeve portion can transmit torque to the first sleeve portion, and so that the second sleeve portion can be disengaged from the first sleeve portion and drawn off the shank without having to release the first sleeve portion from the pedicle screw head.

A bone screw includes a screw shaft with an external thread. The screw shaft anchors the bone screw in a bone. A proximal end of the screw shaft includes a screw head. The ratio between the outer thread diameter and the thread core diameter increases toward the screw head in a proximal screw shaft portion or in the area of the thread's run-out.

A pedicle screw system and/or a spinal stabilization system includes a pedicle screw having a screw shaft with an external thread and having a screw head supported on the screw shaft in a ball-and-socket joint relationship therewith. The screw head includes a connecting element receptacle for a connecting element of a spinal stabilization system. The pedicle screw system further includes a bone alignment device and a coupling device for at least one of force-locking coupling and form-locking coupling of the bone alignment device and the screw shaft when in an alignment position.
