Method and arrangement for generating ignition sparks in an internal

A starting device for an automobile motor in which an asynchronous motor (23) is used both as starting motor and generator. A number of solid state switches (10), forming part of an inverter, is arranged on a metal bar (7) extending along the stator (4) of the motor. The metal bar is connected to one terminal of a voltage supply (21). The stator conduits (9) are connected to a solid state switch and to the other terminal of the voltage supply.

Method and system for controlling spark ignition in internal combustion

A cartridge unit included in an ignition system of an internal combustion engine includes an upper metal part which is securable to an adjacent part of the engine and a plurality of finger-like connection casings, one for each spark plug, detachably mounted to and extending from the upper part. The connection casings and the upper part, when attached to each other, form an essentially closed inner space encapsulating a high tension block which includes a plurality of ignition coils for generating ignition voltage. Each ignition coil has a cable-free detachable electrical connection with adjacent parts of the high tension block, a plurality of contacts, one in each connection casing for cable-free transmission of high tension current from the ignition coils to the spark plugs, and a plurality of sealing elements, one for each connection casing, each sealingly surrounding a spark plug when the cartridge unit is connected to the spark plugs, a plurality of the finger-like connection casings being formed in one piece attachable to the upper part of the cartridge unit.

Ignition unit in the ignition system of an internal combustion engine

The invention relates to an ignition cassette unit for an ignition system for a multi-cylinder Otto-type four-stroke engine equipped with at least one spark plug per cylinder, the ignition system including for each spark plug an ignition device (61,62) connectible to said spark plug in the engine substantially without cables, the ignition system also incorporating a control unit (8) sending signals in response to the engine operating conditions for triggering sparks at the spark plugs in a predetermined order. In order to ensure, in such ignition sytems, transmission of maximum ignition voltage to the engine spark plugs and enable simple and safe handling of the ignition system during service the the like, the invention is mainly distinguished in that the ignition devices (61,62) to at least two adjacent spark plugs are included in a common, handleable unit, a so-called ignition cassette (70). To advantage, the ignition system is of the capacitive type including an electric low-voltage block (2) and an electric high-voltage block (1), the high-voltage block (1) being included in one or more ignition cassettes (70).

An electrically driven hammer machine comprising a driving piston (103) and a hammer piston (104) driven by the driving piston via a pressure gas cushion (106). The driving piston is driven by a brushless alternating current motor (101) via a crank mechanism (105). A solid state inverter (107) in the power supply conduit (102) supplies power of variable amplitude and frequency to the motor.

An ignition coil for a single spark plug includes a coil from which a contact terminal projects, the coil and contact terminal being carried by an elastic body, such as an elastomer, that has a cavity in which the terminal is disposed and which is receptive of the contact and at least a portion of the insulator of the spark plug whereby a seal is provided therewith, there being a sprung coaction with the spark plug, thus eliminating high voltage wiring from the ignition system.

In the disclosed ignition apparatus for internal combustion engines provided with flywheel magnetos, the ignition spark interval is purely mechanically provided at the manufacturing stage. In the direction of rotation, the edges of both pole shoes and core legs which meet each other are sharply defined. The pole shoe, first in the direction of rotation, is formed so that it substantially coacts with the leg, second in the direction of rotation, when the leading edge of the second pole shoe comes into coaction with the front edge of the leg situated first.

Means for providing a mechanically definable selected trigger interval

The invention relates to an apparatus for providing capacitor charging and triggering in so-called electronic ignition systems comprising flywheel magnetos with a plurality of poles. The triggering pulses are arranged phase-shifted in time in relation to the charging pulses, whereby charging the capacitor in question is prevented after triggering initiating ignition. By arranging three windings, for example, connected in series on three adjacent magnetic core legs as capacitor charging pulse generating windings, and bridging over three adjacent ones with a rectifier with a polarity for passing through negative half pulses, a rather constant charging voltage is obtained for a wide range of the engine rpm.

Apparatus in electronic ignition systems

A duct section or other load to be moved axially along a bore hole has two reciprocating drivers mounted on it and two sets of gripping elements. Each driver reacts axially between the load and a set of gripping elements to move the gripping elements relative to the load through a defined stroke in each axial direction. An endless cable with axially extending straight stretches has one stretch connected to each driver to constrain the drivers always to move in opposite axial directions and to begin and end their strokes simultaneously. The gripping elements are so formed that when engaged with the surface of a bore hole, increasing axial force on the load in one direction increases the radially outward force under which they bite into the surface. At each end of a driver stroke the gripping elements collide with abutment members of a direction control device, whereby gripping elements engaged with the bore hole surface are forced out of such engagement and disengaged gripping elements are forced against that surface. The abutment members are arranged in two sets, one set to coordinate gripping element engagement and disengagement for transporting the load in one axial direction, the other set for transportation in the opposite direction. Positioning the directional control device at one or the other limit of its rotation brings one or the other set of abutment members into use.

Device for supporting, raising and lowering duct in deep bore hole

A bore hole to be deepened far into air-impermeable bedrock has an air-tight lining and an air lock in its upper portion, and it is pressurized below the air lock. A duct comprising endwise connected but disconnectable duct sections extends through the bore hole, its top end open to the atmosphere. A drilling mechanism having a telescoping connection with the bottom of the duct comprises a bit driven by a pneumatic motor that has an exhaust air outlet opening into the duct and a pressure air inlet in the bore hole outside the duct. At intervals along the duct remotely controllable supporting and moving devices are fixed to duct sections, each device having a pneumatic actuator with an inlet opening to the bore hole and an outlet opening to the duct. The devices have gripping elements that frictionally engage the bore hole surface to confine the duct against motion or to move it up or down for raising or lowering the drilling mechanism. Boring waste is sucked into the duct and blown up to the surface by exhaust air from the motor and actuators.
