The present invention relates to nitrile-diene-carboxylic ester copolymers, to the preparation thereof, to vulcanizable compositions containing nitrile-diene-carboxylic ester copolymers and the production thereof, and to vulcanizates based on nitrile-diene-carboxylic ester copolymers and to the use thereof in elastomeric components.

What are provided are colour-stable, low-salt nitrile rubbers and a process for production thereof under specific conditions for the coagulation and/or washing of the nitrile rubber. Additionally obtainable are the corresponding vulcanizable mixtures based on this nitrile rubber, a process for producing vulcanizates from these mixtures and the resultant vulcanizates having excellent processing properties.

By the use of special cross-linkers that contain at least two isocyanate groups, hydroxyl group-containing optionally hydrogenated nitrile rubber polymers can be successfully cross-linked. Preferred cross-linkers contain allophanate, biuret, uretdione, uretonimine, bridged carbamate, carbodiimide, isocyanurate, iminooxadiazinedione or oxadiazinetrione structural elements.

The vulcanizates producible therefrom possess very good compression sets at room temperature, 100&#xb0; C. and 150&#xb0; C., and additionally exhibit high tensile stress combined with good elongation at break.

The present invention relates to specific water and solvent-free nitrile rubbers having specific functional groups and/or end groups, a process for the production thereof and the use thereof. This process involves removing volatile compounds from a fluid (F) containing (1) at least one nitrile rubber and (2) at least one volatile compound, wherein the process comprises at least the steps of a.) treating the fluid (F) in at least one conversation unit, b.) retreating the concentrated fluid from step a.) in at least one retreating unit and c.) feeding the retreated concentrated fluid from step b.) into at least one retreating unit.

A new process is provided for preparing nitrile rubbers by free-radical polymerization in an organic solvent and in the presence of specific modifier substances. This polymerization may be followed by hydrogenation to give likewise new hydrogenated nitrile rubbers, the hydrogenation advantageously taking place likewise in organic solvent. The optionally hydrogenated nitrile rubbers obtained are notable for having fragments of the employed modifier substances in the main polymer chain and/or as end groups. They can be prepared with a wide diversity of molecular weights and polydispersity indices, especially with very low polydispersity indices.

Nitrile rubbers and production thereof in organic solvents

A novel vulcanizable polymer composition is provided which is characterized by a specific combination of a polyamine crosslinking agent and a particular crosslinking accelerator. Furtheron polymer vulcanizates on the basis of such polymer compositions as well as method for preparing such polymer vulcanizate is provided, in particular in the form of mouldings or shaped parts.
