Molding system for filling mold with molding material, comprising: extruder, including: barrel configured to process molding material being pushable from barrel; barrel head operatively attached to barrel; screw disposed in the barrel; and screw drive connected to screw; stationary platen support a stationary mold portion; movable platen configured to be movable relative to the stationary platen; and body overlapping and sealing, at least in part, barrel and barrel head, body including: flange received at interface between barrel and barrel head, flange abutting end of barrel, flange abutting end of barrel head; and outer surface protruding from flange into interior of barrel, outer circumferential surface protruding from flange into interior of barrel head, outer surface sealing and overlapping against: (i) inner surface of barrel, and (ii) inner surface of barrel head; and body having coefficient of thermal expansion being: (i) greater than barrel, and (ii) greater than barrel head.

Molding system for use with a mold having stationary mold portion and movable mold portion, molding system comprising: stationary platen configured to support stationary mold portion; movable platen configured to be movable relative to stationary platen, and movable platen configured to support movable mold portion; and extruder, including: barrel defining channel extending through barrel; liner received in channel, liner defining first conically-shaped end; machine nozzle connecting with the mold; and barrel head fixedly connected with barrel, barrel head fixedly connected with machine nozzle so that molten molding material is conveyable from barrel to cavity defined by the mold, barrel head defining passageway extending through barrel head, barrel head defining second conically-shaped end exiting the passageway, second conically-shaped end mated with the first conically-shaped end of the liner so that channel and passageway are aligned with each other.

Injection molding system having a cooperating tapered machine nozzle and barrel head

The present invention relates to a system for thermally profiling preforms prior to blow molding. The system includes a pallet for holding a plurality of preforms and a station, such as a heating oven, for thermally conditioning the preforms. In a first embodiment, the pallet comprises a self aligning pallet which is movable towards and away from the heating oven. In a second embodiment, the pallet holding the preforms is fixed in position and the heating oven is movable towards and away from the preforms. The pallet further includes rotatable mandrels for supporting the preforms and a programmable motor for rotating the preforms a desired amount and at a desired speed.
