Offshore terminal apparatus which in various examples comprises a floating storage vessel which is spread-moored in fixed heading orientation to a seabed offshore by spread mooring lines, the floating storage vessel comprising a hull having bow and stern ends and which at either or both the bow end and the stern end is fitted with an extension section and includes coupling means on the extension section to couple spread mooring lines to the floating storage vessel.

A method is for performing an approach to position a ship in side-by-side configuration alongside a floating offshore storage facility, for transfer of fluid cargo between the floating offshore storage facility and the ship. The method may comprise connecting a helper vessel to the ship, moving the ship on an approach path toward the floating offshore storage facility using the helper vessel, and obtaining a component of sideways movement of the ship by applying thrust from the connected helper vessel, to facilitate moving the ship on the approach path and position the ship in the side-by-side configuration. The ship can be brought into the side-by-side configuration alongside the floating offshore storage facility, at least one transfer pipe can be connected between the ship and the floating offshore storage facility, and communication can be opened through the transfer pipe to communicate fluid cargo between the ship and the storage facility.

Methods and system relating to positioning a ship to side-by-side configuration alongside a floating offshore storage facility and transferring fluid cargo therebetween

Offloading cargo from a cargo vessel and delivering the cargo to a cargo recipient, or loading cargo onto the cargo vessel from a cargo supplier, may be performed using a cargo vessel which is spread moored at sea to a plurality of mooring points for mooring the cargo vessel in a desired orientation. Alternatively, the cargo vessel may be rotatably moored. Tubing may be provided and configured to be connected to the vessel for fluid communication between the vessel and the cargo recipient or the cargo supplier, and may comprise a first portion configured to be connected to the cargo vessel and a second portion configured to be connected to the cargo recipient or the cargo supplier. A semi-submersible unit may be operable to travel across the sea and carry part of the tubing from a stand-by location to a position adjacent to the cargo vessel, so as to allow an end of the first portion of the tubing to be connected the cargo vessel for offloading or loading the cargo. The unit may have at least one lifting and handling device, which when the unit is positioned adjacent to the cargo vessel, may be operable for arranging the end of the first portion of the tubing at or near a manifold on the cargo vessel for connection thereto.

Systems, methods and units for offloading or loading cargo at sea

Methods and systems are for transferring fluid cargo between a first vessel and a second vessel at open sea in a Parallel configuration. The first vessel is equipped with a cargo connection point and the second vessel is equipped with cargo manifold. A tubular line is connectable between the cargo connection point and the cargo manifold. The method can include attaching a self-propelled buoy to the second vessel; connecting a cargo connection between the self-propelled buoy and the cargo manifold; connecting a cargo line between the cargo connection point and the self-propelled buoy; transferring cargo between the cargo connection point and the cargo vessel; and relying on the self-propelled buoy to keep the self-propelled buoy within predetermined distance boundaries from the first vessel also when the self-propelled buoy is attached to the second vessel.
