Described a sample preparation device for preparing a sample containing particles collected onto a collection plate. The sample preparation device includes a holding device for securing the collection plate; a device for punch cutting with a sample collector, and a guiding device that includes two or more guide bores. The guiding device extends a first length along a plane x between first and second transverse sides; The guiding device includes a centerline A extending parallel to plane x dividing the guiding device into equally sized first and second halves. The two or more guide bores are asymmetrically located relative to the centerline A in the first and/or second halves.

Sample preparation device

The disclosure pertains to a systemand method for collecting and measuring particles in exhaled air. The systemis arranged to allow for examination of the full or substantially the full volume of each exhalation of a subject.

System for collecting exhaled particles

The invention relates to a device for examination of a pressure (p) in an intervertebral disc, a body of vertebra or any other part of a disc in a human or animal. The device () comprises a hollow cannula () with an end portion () arranged to be inserted into the intervertebral disc, the body of vertebra or any other part of the disc. The device further comprises an optical fiber () arranged in the cannula () and a sensor device () arranged on the optical fiber (), which in use is positioned in connection to the intervertebral disc, the body of vertebra or any other part of the disc. The device also has an injection device () for injection of liquid into the intervertebral disc, the body of vertebra or any other part of the disc through the cannula () while the sensor device () measures the physical magnitude (p) in the anatomical organ (). The invention also relates to a method for examination of a pressure (p) in an intervertebral disc, a body of vertebra or any other part of a disc in humans and animals, designed in analogy to the device according to the invention.

Method and a device for examination of physical magnitude in humans or animals in an object filled with liquid or gas

The invention relates to a method for optical measuring systems, comprising a sensor element () connected to a measuring and control unit () via an optical connection (), and being adapted for providing a signal defining a measurement of a physical parameter (p) influencing the sensor element (), said method comprising generation of a measuring signal that is brought to come in towards the sensor element (), and detection of the intensity of the measuring signal (B) in the measuring and control unit (), after influencing the measuring signal in the sensor element (). The invention is characterised by comprising partial reflection of the measuring signal at a point along the optical connection (), at a predetermined distance from the sensor element (), detection of the intensity of the signal (A), corresponding to said partially reflected measuring signal, and determination of a measurement of said parameter (p) based upon the intensity of the partially reflected signal (A) and the intensity of the measuring signal (B). The invention also relates to a device for carrying out said method. Through the invention, measurements with an optical pressure measuring system are allowed, which exhibit effective compensation for any existing sources of error.

Method and device for fibre-optical measuring systems

Compensation is provided for bending of an optical fibre in intensity-based optical measuring systems. A measuring signal and a reference signal of different wavelengths are generated and transmitted through an optical connection towards a sensor element. The reference signal is not influenced in the sensor element. The measuring and reference signals are detected and compensation is carried out for bending of the optical connection using correction data. The correction data is based upon pre-store data concerning the relationship between the measured reference signal and the measured measuring signal as a function of the bending influence on the optical connection. Devices and methods according to the invention allow for measurements with an optical pressure measuring system that exhibit effective compensation for any bending of the optical connection.
