An image display control apparatus includes: a storage storing data sets; and a controller. The controller displays a first screen containing at least two of first data relating images corresponding to the data sets. When a first operation is accepted during display of the first screen, the controller replaces the first screen with a second screen containing at least three of second data relating images corresponding to the data sets. At least one second data relating image is displayed with information indicating that its corresponding data is set as data to be output. Each second data relating image has a display area smaller than that of each first data relating image. The number of second data relating images on the second screen is greater than that of first data relating images on the first screen.

A communication device is provided. The communication device includes a calling party information receiving unit to receive calling party information, a first call record storing unit to create and store a call record including the calling party information based on receiving conditions of the incoming call, a second call record storing unit to create and store a call record without the calling party information based on receiving conditions of the incoming call, and a call record output unit to output the call records inclusive of the call records stored by the first call record storing unit and by the second call record storing unit.

An apparatus includes a base unit and cordless handsets configured to establish a call with a communication apparatus, and a storage unit configured to store information corresponding to the communication apparatus indicating whether a multi-party call among the communication apparatus and at least two of the base unit and the cordless handsets is permitted. Also, a processing unit is configured to determine whether to enable a multi-party call among one communication apparatus, and at least two of the base unit and the cordless handsets based on the information. A method for use with the apparatus can include, in response to receiving a call from one communication apparatus, determining whether to enable a multi-party call to be established among the one communication apparatus and at least two of the base unit and the cordless handsets based on the information.

Enabling multi-party call in telephone system

When a call signal is received, the caller's telephone number transmitted from the switchboard is stored in the RAM. Then, whether the caller's telephone number matches one of telephone numbers stored in the abbreviated-dialing list is determined in S29. When the caller's telephone number matches one telephone number stored in that list (Yes in S29), the attribute stored in correspondence with the caller's telephone number is judged in S31. Then, a reception mode suited for the determined attribute is selected and set to the facsimile machine 1 in S34, S36, or S38. Afterward, a reception operation of the set mode is performed in S35, S37, or S39. At this stage, the telephone circuit is first connected.

Facsimile machine with plural reception modes

A facsimile machine including a first facsimile-data transmitter and/or a first facsimile-data receiver, a first telephone set, a data receiver including a connector connectable to an external computer for receiving, from the computer, designating data designating a second telephone set, and a calling device which calls the second telephone set designated by the designating data, so as to connect the first telephone set to the second telephone set via a communication line.

Facsimile machine

A facsimile machine is provided with an I/O port for connecting to an interface box of a computer and a function key for setting various modes of the facsimile machine. When the function key is depressed, the CPU executes a program, that is stored in a ROM, for displaying heading representing the various modes. However, the CPU prevents display of modes associated with the computer if it is determined that the interface box is not connected to the I/O port of the facsimile machine.

An optical image reading apparatus for photoelectrically reading images formed in at least two colors on a surface of an original having a base color different from the at least two colors, including a first reading device for obtaining a first image signal for each of a multiplicity of reading spots in a predetermined area on the original. The first image signal has two different levels one of which corresponds to the base color and the other of which corresponds to the at least two colors. The apparatus further includes a second reading device for obtaining a second image signal for the each reading spot. The second image signal cooperates with the first image signal to discriminate each of the at least two colors from the other of the at least two colors. Provisions are made for determining whether the levels of the first image signals for all of the multiplicity of reading spots are equal to the above-indicated one level corresponding to the base color, or not. If so, the second reading device is inhibited from operating to obtain the second inage signal for each reading spot.

An optical reading including a device for effecting discrimination between a dither-matrix reading area and a non-dither-matrix reading area on a subject copy, an irradiating device for irradiating local segments of the subject copy with light beams having different intensities, a reading device for obtaining image data representative of the presence or absence of an achromatic tone in each local segment based on an amount of the light beam reflected by each local segment, a control device for operating the irradiating and reading devices to irradiate the local segments in a predetermined discriminating zone of the subject copy with the light beams having different intensities at different times, to obtain first and second image data, a device for comparing the first and second image data of each local segment in the discrimination zone, to determine whether the first and second image data agree with each other or not for each local segment, and a device for determining that the discrimination zone is the dither-matrix reading area, if a degree of disagreement of the first and second image data exceeds a predetermined reference value, and determining that the discrimination zone is the non-dither-matrix reading area, if the degree of disagreement does not exceed the reference value.
