Analyte sensors with reduced interferent signal and methods

Methods and analyte sensors including a sensor tail comprising at least a first working electrode and a second working electrode that are spaced apart from one another along a length of the sensor tail. A first active area is disposed upon a surface of the first working electrode and a second active area is disposed upon a surface of the second working electrode, the first active area and the second active area being responsive to different analytes. A mass transport limiting membrane is deposited upon the first active area and the second active area by sequential dip coating operations, and the mass transport limiting membrane comprises a bilayer membrane portion overcoating the first active area and a homogeneous membrane portion overcoating the second active area.

Analyte sensors and sensing methods featuring low-potential detection

Analyte sensors responsive at low working electrode potentials may comprise an active area upon a surface of a working electrode, wherein the active area comprises a polymer, a redox mediator covalently bonded to the polymer, and at least one analyte-responsive enzyme covalently bonded to the polymer. A specific redox mediator responsive at low potential may have a structure of wherein G is a linking group covalently bonding the redox mediator to the polymer. An immunoassay cassette, apparatus, and method for detecting an analyte in a liquid body-fluid sample are disclosed. The cassette has a body and a support mounted on the body, for movement relative to the body to first and second transfer positions. Sample supplied to a sample well in the cassette body is transferred to a reagent reservoir on the cassette body, by moving the support to its first transfer position. Here the sample reacts with a first reagent composition in the reservoir effective to form a modified sample. The modified sample is then transferred to a reagent strip on the support by moving the support to its second transfer position. The reagent strip has a transfer zone at which sample material is transferred to the strip, a second reagent composition effective to react with the modified sample to form a detectable analyte-dependent product, and a detection zone located downstream at which the detectable product can be observed. By controlling movement of the support to its first and second positions, the cassette can effectively handle a variety of samples having different flow rates.

Automated immunoassay cassette, apparatus and method

Chromatographic strip is used in combination with a transmittance detecting system in a test to quantitate analytes in biological fluid. Chemical reagents or conjugate labels are simply absorbed on the passages' materials of the strip. The substrates, affinity reagents, or antibodies are immobilized on transparent beads in the detection cell of the strip. The biological fluid passes through the strip. The captured analytes are detected by transmittance detection for quantification. Uncaptured elements and interferences in the fluid are drained to the absorbent portion of the strip when the fluid passes the cell as a wash. This chromatographic strip with an analyte capture zone simplifies the procedures that a transmittance detecting system alone cannot overcome. Adjustable light path of the cells in the strip overcome the sensitivity limitation of reflectance detection.

Combining transmittance detection and chromatographic strip techniques for quantification of analyte in biological fluids

Multilayer reagent test strips for quantitating glycated protein in a fluid sample, as well as methods for using the same, are provided. The subject multilayer test strips include at least a filter layer, a proteinase layer and a ketoamine oxidase signal producing and fluid flow control system layer. In using the subject test strips, a fluid sample is applied to the test strip and a signal is generated that can be employed to quantitate the glycated protein level in the sample. The quantitated glycated protein level can then be employed to determine the amount of glycated protein in the fluid sample. Also provided are kits and systems that include the subject test strips and find use in practicing the subject methods. The subject compositions and methods find use in glycated protein monitoring applications, among other utilities.
