A self-propelled work apparatus includes a traveling unit, a work unit, and a user interface. The traveling unit moves in a self-propelled manner to a position near a user. The work unit performs predetermined work. The user interface adjusts a position of the traveling unit located near the user, in accordance with a motion of the user. The work unit starts the predetermined work when the user interface is activated in accordance with the user motion.

In a key registering mode, a freely set key table is produced which correlates operation key information representing a function of a specified key and area information representing an arbitrarily selected area of a coordinate input surface of a coordinate input device. A facsimile in which various kinds of management reports on its operation conditions are output. In the facsimile, when outputting a management report about the facsimile itself, the contents of the management report are once converted into code data and the code data are then stored in a code storage unit. After that, the stored code data are output from an image recording unit in the same manner as the code data of an image received from outside in the code storage unit is output.

A filing system scans original documents and converts the information on the documents into picture information which is then condensed and stored in a file storage block. If an index for the files is specified, an index of the picture information is stored in a file image memory having a plurality of fixed memory areas. Coordinates of an area of the original document enclosing the picture information on the original document can be specified, and tables in memory indicate the correspondence between specified areas, the corresponding fixed memory areas in the file image memory, and the addresses of the corresponding stored files. To retrieve the files, an operator can either press certain areas on a document with a stylus pen, provide an identifier of the files, or place marks on an index document prepared by the filing system.

An apparatus for producing and utilizing sheets of manuals containing data corresponding to operating procedures for electronic devices. Data related to an electronic device is input into the production portion and stored in the apparatus. Relevant area data and character code strings are converted to frame and image data, which is combined and printed onto a manual sheet. The printed data, which corresponds to the desired operating procedure, can then be read into the utilization portion of the device. The data is matched with corresponding function data, which is read out to operate the electronic device in accordance with the operating procedures.

A facsimile apparatus having a memory for storing received data therein and a recorder for printing out image signals, comprises a retaining unit for causing the memory to retain the received data after the image signal has been printed out, an operation unit for instructing to erase the stored data in the memory, and a deletion order storage unit for storing an order of deletion of the stored data, whereby the received data stored in the memory is retained until the operation unit instructs to erase the received data.
