Process for manufacturing a superconducting composite

An evaporation material is used in manufacturing a VTR tape, a vertical magnetic recording thin film or the like. The evaporation material is a wire comprising a cobalt metal a cobalt--nickel alloy containing not more than 30 weight % of nickel, or a cobalt--chromium alloy containing not more than 30 weight % of chromium. This wire has a diameter of at least 1.0 mm and not more than 10 mm, a tensile strength of at least 400 MPa and not more than 1500 MPa, and an elongation and a reduction of area of at least 5%. The evaporation material has a prescribed crystal structure, with a face centered cubic lattice ratio of at least 0.1 and not more than 1. It is possible to obtain a wire having the above properties by heating the metal material to at least Tu.degree. C. and thereafter performing plastic working of reduction in area of at least 10% in a single pass at a temperature of at least Td.degree. C. and not more than (Tu+200).degree. C. Preferably, the cobalt metal or the cobalt--nickel alloy further contains 0.01 to 0.1 weight % of Mn, Cr, Mg, Zr or Ca. Preferably, the cobalt--chromium alloy further contains 0.01 to 0.1 weight % of Mn, Mg, Zr or Ca.

Evaporation material

A stainless steel wire is plated with nickel (Ni) to a thickness of from not less than 1 .mu.m to not more than 5 .mu.m. An inorganic salt coat film mainly composed of at least one of potassium sulfate and borax (borate) and free from fluorine (F) or chlorine (Cl) is then deposited on the nickel (Ni) plate 2 as the substrate. The steel wire is then drawn to a reduction of area of not less than 60% to adjust the surface roughness thereof to a range of from 0.80 to 12.5 .mu.mRz, preferably from 1.0 to 10.0 .mu.mRz.

Stainless steel wire and producing method thereof

A process for manufacturing a superconducting elongated article such as a superconducting wire which is applicable for manufacturing a superconducting coil or the like. The process includes steps comprising filling a metal pipe with material powder of ceramic consisting of compound oxide having superconductivity, performing plastic deformation of the metal pipe filled with the ceramic metal powder to reduce the cross section of the metal pipe, and then subjecting the deformed metal pipe to heat-treatment to sinter the ceramic material powder filled in the metal pipe. The ceramic material powder may contain compound oxide having Perovskite-type crystal structure exhibiting superconductivity. The metal pipe may selected from a group comprising metals of Ag, Au, Pt, Pd, Rh, Ir, Ru, Os, Cu, Al, Fe, Ni, Cr, Ti, Mo, W and Ta and alloys including these metals as the base. The heat-treatment may be carried out at a temperature ranging from 700 to 1,000.degree. C., The plastic deformation of the metal pipe filled with the ceramic metal powder may be performed in such manner that the cross section of the metal pipe is reduced at a dimensional reduction ratio ranging from 16% to 92% by wire-drawing or forging by means of dies, roller dies, or extruder.

Process for manufacturing a superconducting wire of compound oxide-type

Method for producing an elongated sintered article, characterized by the steps including filling powder material in a pipe, carrying out plastic deformation of the pipe filled with the powder material, and heating the pipe filled with the powder material to burn and/or sinter the powder material. The method of the present invention is advantageously applicable to production of wire or rod of ceramics, particularly so called new ceramics or fine ceramics, sintered alloys or their combination, which are difficult of shaping or moulding by conventional process such as wire-drawing, rolling or extrusion of powder material and are difficult of machining or processing after the powder material is sintered.

A process for producing a composite oxide superconducting wire is disclosed, which comprises the steps of compacting material powder for an oxide superconductor in a noble metal pipe; heating the metal pipe filled with the material powder at a temperature ranging between an upper limit corresponding to the lowest melting point of any one of constituent components in the material powder and a lower limit which is lower by 100.degree. C. than said upper limit to sinter the material powder and cooling the product at a cooling velocity of less than 50.degree. C./min, and further including a series of wire-drawing, annealing and sintering steps. Furthermore, an intermediate layer of noble metal can be interposed between the oxide superconductor and the metal pipe.

Process for manufacturing a composite oxide superconducting wire

Improvement in a process for producing a sintered elongated article by the steps comprising filling a metal pipe with a material powder, carrying out plastic deformation of the metal pipe and then subjecting the material powder in deformed metal pipe to sintering. In the invention, the step of the plastic deformation includes at least one deformation satge carried out under a hot condition.

Process for producing an elongated sintered article

A method for manufacturing a steel wire material for reinforcing an optical fiber is proposed. In this method, a steel wire is firstly subjected to a chemical conversion treatment. The wire is then drawn with a reduction of area of 30% or more. As a result, a coating capable of effectively restraining the production of hydrogen is formed on the surface of the wire.

A superconducting composite comprising a compound oxide type superconductor and an outer metal pipe on which said superconductor is supported, characterized in that (i) said outer metal pipe is made of at least one of metals selected from a group comprising gold, silver and platinum metals and their alloys or (ii) an intermediate layer made of these precious metals is interposed between the compound oxide and the metal pipe. The composite may be in a form of a solid pipe or a hollow pipe having a superconducting thin layer deposited on an inner surface of the metal pipe.

A process for producing a sintered ceramic wire, particularly a superconducting wire, by the steps of filling a metal pipe with a material powder of ceramic, wire drawing the metal pipe filled with the material powder by means of roller dies and then subjecting a composite of the metal pipe and the material powder to a heating operation to sinter the ceramic powder.

The present invention is characterized in that the heat-treatment is carried out in the coexist of silver oxide: Ag.sub.2 O placed inside the metal pipe.

Process for producing an elongated superconductor

The present invention relates to a sintered oxide superconducting wire and a method of fabricating the same. The sintered superconducting wire is made by packing powders of metal oxides, or a mixture of metal oxides and metal carbonates, each having an oxidation potential (.DELTA.G.degree.) higher than or equal to that of copper in a metallic cylinder, drawing said packed cylinder and sintering said drawn cylinder in air to form said wire.

Fabrication of sintered oxide superconducting wires by a powder-in-tube

The present invention relates to a sintered ceramic superconducting wire which is made by placing powders of metal oxides or a mixture of powders of metal oxides and metal carbonates, said oxides and said carbonates each having an oxidation potential higher than or equal to that of copper, in a metallic cylinder formed from a high temperature oxidation-resistant material, and drawing the packed cylinder to a final size and sintering said drawn packed cylinder in air, wherein said cylinder is removed prior or subsequent to the final step of sintering.
