A saw blade includes a group A (group A1 [=straight tooth+the odd number of set teeth]+group A2 [=straight tooth+the even number of set teeth]) and a group B (group B1 [=straight tooth+the odd number of set teeth having opposite set-bending sides to those in the group A1]+group B2 [=straight tooth+the even number of set teeth having opposite set-bending sides to those in the group A2]). Wide and narrow set teeth are arranged so that a max/min ratio of the number of pitches between the narrow set teeth having identical set-bending side and set width is 1.8 or less, and a max/min ratio of the number of pitches between the wide set teeth having identical set-bending side set width is 2.7 or less.

Concave/convex portions are consecutively formed on a back of a band saw blade. The concave/convex portions include concave portions engageable with and disengageable from a backup guide of a band saw guide unit, and convex portions adjacent to the concave portions. A length of each of the concave/convex portions is configured to be equal to or smaller than four times a maximum pitch of a tooth top of each tooth.

The present invention provides a band saw blade which has less difference in cut areas of workpieces with small diameters and cut areas of workpieces with large diameters, and is capable of weakening the cutting resistance and preventing unintentional bending of a cutting line and noise generation when a workpiece, which cannot easily be cut, is cut. The band saw blade has, on the back surface of a body thereof, a wavy back surface which is changed periodically or irregularly. A plurality of imaginary curves L ,L running parallel to the wavy undulation provided for the back surface are formed opposite to the back surface. Moreover, a plurality of saw teeth having tooth tips which substantially describe the imaginary curves L ,L are formed. Thus, constant areas can be cut by the band saw blade regardless of the diameter of the workpieces required to be cut. Moreover, the cutting resistance can be weakened, and unintentional bending and noise can be prevented.

A saw blade is constituted with a unset tooth, a plurality of left-set teeth and a plurality of right-set teeth. In the construction, the saw blade has the unset tooth, a plurality of left-set teeth and a plurality of right-set teeth as one group. A plurality of set widths of the plurality of set teeth are formed in the saw blade. A relief angle of a tip of the unset tooth is equal to or greater than a relief angle of a tip of the set tooth having the smallest set width. Furthermore, the relief angle of a tip becomes small in accordance that the set width becomes greater.

A saw blade such as a bandsaw blade, circular saw blade, or backsaw blade has a pair of leading teeth which cut the workpiece and advance in a feed direction while the workpiece is being cut and a plurality of trailing teeth which cut the workpiece later than the leading teeth and serve to widen the leading cut channel. The leading teeth and the trailing teeth form one basic group in which the heights of the trailing teeth from a basic position on the saw blade are equal to or smaller than the height of the leading teeth. The trailing teeth are set in the right and left directions with respect to the saw blade and the leading teeth are slightly set with respect to the saw blade.

A saw blade such as a bandsaw blade, circular saw blade, or hacksaw blade has a leading tooth or teeth which cuts the workpiece and advances in a feed direction while the workpiece is being cut and a plurality of trailing teeth which cut the workpiece later than the leading tooth or teeth and serve to widen the leading cut channel. The leading tooth and the trailing teeth form one group in which a plurality of the trailing teeth are lesser in height than the leading tooth and an additional plurality of the trailing tooth are equal in height to the leading tooth. The trailing teeth are set in the right and left directions with respect to the saw blade and the leading tooth is unset with respect to the saw blade. The lateral set of the plurality of trailing teeth having a lesser height is wider than the lateral set of the plurality of trailing teeth having the same height as the leading tooth. Embodiments are disclosed in which a second group of teeth alternate with the basic group of teeth on the saw blade.

Several embodiments are disclosed in which the saw blade has 3,4,5,6,7,8,9, etc., up to 12 teeth. Additionally disclosed are saw blades in which the order of the leading tooth and the trailing teeth are varied, the tips of the teeth form an arc, the leading tooth is formed in a V-shape, the leading tooth has a V-shaped or U-shaped notch in the tip, a cutting removal channel is formed in the gullet of the teeth, and the tips of leading teeth and trailing teeth are configured to conform to a straight-line shape or a shape in the form of the arc of a circle.
