An ink image is formed on the side of a gauze of a screen master by discharging ink by an ink discharge apparatus, and collected visible rays or infrared rays are irradiated onto the ink image to heat the ink. Then, a thermoplastic resin film is perforated to form a plate making image corresponding to the ink image. The minute ink drops discharged from the ink discharge apparatus are held inside minute opening portions (pixels) of fibers configuring the gauze, and are put on the thermoplastic synthetic resin film bent by gravity. Thermosensitive perforation is carried out in this state, and thus a high-definition plate making image corresponding to the image configured using the ink drops in units of pixels can be obtained.

Plate making method and screen master

An envelope filling apparatus inserts a sheet of paper into an envelope having a flap, and includes an envelope feed device, an air nozzle for blowing air into the envelope fed by the envelope feed device from an open end of the envelope to open the open end, and a sensing device for detecting that the open end of the envelope is opened. The apparatus further includes an insertion device for inserting the sheet of paper into the envelope from the open end, if the sensing device detects that the open end of the envelope is opened after the air nozzle is actuated, and a removal device for removing the envelope from a transport route, if the sensing device does not detect that the open end of the envelope is opened after the air nozzle is actuated and the insertion device is not actuated.

Printing machine for booklet-like medium

In a stencil printing device in which printing ink is supplied to the inner surface of a printing drum, and printing paper is pressed onto a stencil master plate sheet mounted on the outer circumferential surface of the printing drum by using a press roller for effecting a stencil printing on the printing paper, there are provided dip switches in the printing drum for identifying the type of the printing ink supplied to the inner surface of the printing drum, and the pressing force of the press roller against the printing drum is variably determined according to the detected type of the printing ink set on the dip switches so that a stencil printing is carried out with a prescribed printing density without regard to the type of ink, in particular the color of the printing ink used with the printing drum. An alternative device determines material properties of the ink including temperature, color, viscosity and opacity of the ink so that pressing force of the roller against the printing drum can be variably determined.

Stencil printing device using a sensor for detecting an ink type

To the end of reliably and accurately detecting a failure to properly eject a master plate and positively preventing the occurrence of secondary failures due to a failure to properly eject a master plate, the passage of both the leading edge and the trailing edge of the ejected master plate beyond a prescribed point in the conveying path of ejected master plates is used as an indication of a successful ejection of a master plate. An ejected master plate sensor for detecting the presence of a master plate in a path for conveying a stencil master plate to an ejected master plate receiving box is provided in the conveying path, and the state of the ejected master plate sensor is monitored if the change of its state from the one indicating the absence of a master plate to the one indicating the presence of a master plate is followed within a prescribed time period by the change of its state from the one indicating the presence of a master plate to the one indicating the absence of a master plate so that a start of a next operation may be permitted when such a sequence of the change of the state of the stencil master plate detecting sensor took place, and a start of a next operation may be otherwise prohibited as being a case of a failure to properly eject a stencil master plate.

A cut sheet feeder for use with an image forming apparatus includes a sheet feed mechanism and a sheet feed unit mechanism. The sheet feed mechanism picks up stacked cut sheets one at a time from a predetermined position and feeds each sheet to an image recording portion. The sheet feed unit is vertically movable relative to the sheet feed mechanism and has a first sheet feed table. The first sheet feed table is located in an upper part of the sheet feed unit and includes a cutout portion for avoiding interference with the sheet feed mechanism when the first sheet feed table moves vertically in combination with the sheet feed unit. A second sheet feed table is located in a lower part of the sheet feed unit and vertically movable relative to the sheet feed unit.

A mimeographic printing machine comprising: mimeographic printing means for printing an image of an original document on successive sheets one at a time and for discharging the printed sheets; a sorter having a plurality of bins for receiving the printed sheets discharged from the mimeographic printing means; mode setting means for setting up the sorter for a specified mode such that a number of the printed sheets, which are printed for the same original document and exceed the number of the bins of the sorter, will be received on the bins in a specified order; and control means for detecting that the specified mode is set up by the mode setting means and for controlling the mimeographic printing means and the sorter in such a manner that the printed sheets discharged from the mimeographic printing means will be received orderly one after another in the bins, from the first bin to the last bin, and then the following printed sheets discharged from the mimeographic printing means will be received orderly one after another in the bins from the first bin.

The stencil duplicator includes: a cylindrical porous rotary printing drum and a means for selectively rotating it in a preferred direction; a means for clamping the leading edge of a stencil master along a generator of the printing drum; a means for supplying printing ink to the inner surface of the printing drum; a press roller means for pressing a paper sheet to the outer surface of the printing drum with a progressive rolling action; a means for feeding a paper sheet between the printing drum and the press roller means; a means for making a stencil master, including a light transmitting plate, a light source which selectively illuminates the light transmitting plate, and a pressure plate facing the light transmitting plate, with the light transmitting plate and the pressure plate being selectively able either to be separated or pressed together; a means for feeding the leading edge of a stencil master which has passed between the light transmitting plate and the pressure plate towards the clamping means so that it may be clamped thereby; and a means for controlling operation so that, when the light transmitting plate and the pressure plate are separated from one another with a stencil master interposed therebetween, the printing drum is rotated and by pulling via the clamping means on the leading edge of the stencil master withdraws it and wraps it around the printing drum.

A printing machine includes a printing drum. A stencil master sheet retaining device for this printing machine includes: a magnet plate extending generally along a generator of the printing drum; a clamp plate, made of magnetically attractable material, which can be selectively positioned either to a position in which it lies against the magnet plate, or to a position in which it is removed away from the magnet plate; a removal strip which extends above the magnet plate generally between the magnet plate and the clamp plate; and a means for raising the removal strip away from the magnet plate, when the clamp plate is removed away from the magnet strip. This removal strip may be thin and elastic, and may be thus raised by being put into compression, optionally by its one end being fixed to the printing drum and its other end being moved towards that fixed end. In the case that the clamp plate is thus selectively positioned either against the magnet plate or away from the magnet plate by being pivoted around an axis generally parallel to the generator of the printing drum, then the removal strip, from its the fixed end, may be passed over the magnet plate and around the axis with its other end fixed to the clamp plate, the part of which generally at the axis of rotation thereof around which the removal strip is passed may be thickened.

In a reflecting type overhead projector having a light source lamp and a projection lens above a reflecting table formed of a Fresnel lens and a mirror upon which an original to be projected is laid, there is provided a control circuit which switches over supply of electric power to the light source lamp between full and part power supply according to whether the intensity of the light beams from the light source lamp received by a photosensitive element provided in the vicinity of the reflecting table is higher or lower than a predetermined value.
