A travel distance estimating apparatus () estimates a travel distance of a moving body in a given section through which the moving body travels (hereinafter referred to as a 'travel interval'). A current position acquiring unit () acquires the current position of the moving body. A variable acquiring unit () acquires information related to the speed of the moving body in the travel interval. An estimating unit () estimates based on a consumed energy estimating equation, energy consumption and a travelable distance for travel through the travel interval. A correcting unit () corrects information related to the moving body and used as variables of the consumed energy estimating equation. A storage unit () stores information related to roads associated with a travel history of the moving body. A display unit () displays map data including information related to travelable distance calculated by the estimating unit ().

A receiver which receives broadcast waves from a plurality of broadcasting systems is provided with signal amplifiers that amplify signals received from each of the broadcasting systems. The outputs of the signal amplifiers are superposed to produce a superposed signal. The superposed signal is then demodulated and reception information is reproduced. When the condition of the reception information has deteriorated, at least one of the signals from the signal amplifiers whose signal quality has deteriorated and the signals from the signal amplifiers whose noise level is high are excluded from the superposed signal.

Receiver

A transmit wave receiving apparatus comprises a wave receiving device, a signal monitoring device and a wave receiving control device. The wave receiving device receives transmit waves, which are transmitted from wave transmitting systems. The signal monitoring device monitors signal levels and signal qualities of the transmit waves, which are received by the wave receiving device. The wave receiving control device controls the wave receiving device so as to halt a wave receiving operation for the transmit wave having a large signal level, when it is judged from monitoring results by the signal monitoring device that the signal qualities of the transmit waves in all of the wave receiving systems are unfavorable.

Detection of synchronization signals of digital broadcasting waves of respective reception systems is periodically carried out, and a relative time difference between synchronization timings of the synchronization signals is grasped. In the case where a synchronization signal can not be detected from the reception system under selection, the relative value is added to or subtracted from the generation timing of a synchronization signal of the other reception system, so that the synchronization timing that could not be detected is presumed.
