An apparatus for measuring biological data such as blood pressure of a user has a pulse detector for simultaneously obtaining fingerprint data and a first signal from the user's body such as a pulse wave signal. The fingerprint data are used to check if the user is a registered user. After the user's biological data such as pulse waves are measured and a second signal is obtained from the user, the first and second signals are compared to check if this is the same user from whom the fingerprint data were taken in order to prevent the apparatus from being used by a wrong person. Comparison may be made between the first signal and a pattern of pulse waves extracted from earlier obtained pulse waves stored in a memory. Similar components may be used for an exercising machine to prevent it from being used by a person not preliminarily registered or a person different from the one who passed the fingerprint test on the machine.

Apparatus for measuring biological data and exercise machines

An electronic thermometer contains inside its main body not only a temperature detecting device and a display device for displaying the measured body temperature but also a buzzer for outputting a warning sound. The buzzer is formed with a piezoelectric plate on an oscillating plate, having an elongated shape and being securely supported only at mutually opposite end parts in its longitudinal direction, and these end parts remain fixed in the primary mode of oscillation. A resonance chamber is formed between the buzzer and its support structure. A buzzer cover, which serves to secure the buzzer by contacting it only at its end parts, also contacts the main body in a direction opposite from the support structure so as to propagate the buzzer oscillations to the main body.

There is provided an ultrasonic atomizer having a start/stop switch and when the switch is turned on (ST ) an oscillation frequency generation unit and an air feeding motor are operated (ST ), an air volume dial is checked and a decision is made as to whether the current mode is a continuous mode or a timer mode (ST ST ). If it is the continuous mode a state of operation is displayed by dynamically moving a segment on a display and periodically ringing a buzzer to notify the user accordingly (ST , ST ). The start/stop switch is turned off, an oscillation unit is stopped and an oscillator is turned off (ST ST ), and the air feeding motor is also stopped (ST ). If this state is provided in the continuous mode then an inactive state is indicated by static characters &ldquo;00&rdquo; (ST ). This ensures that the user can determine whether the ultrasonic atomizer in the continuous mode currently has the active state or the inactive state.
