An electrophotographic apparatus includes an image forming mechanism for forming an image on a paper sheet, and a magnetic cleaning system for magnetically cleaning a surface of an image carrier of the mechanism for each cycle of image formation. A mechanical cleaning system is provided for mechanically cleaning the image carrier. The mechanical cleaning system includes a blade movable between a contact position where it contacts with the surface of the carrier and an off position where it is kept apart from the surface. The blade is intermittently moved to the contact position, by a drive mechanism and a control unit, for predetermined operating times at predetermined time intervals. The blade is arranged to be manually operable through a lever attached to the blade.

A ticket issuing device for a ticket machine according to the present invention comprises a holding plate for receiving thereon tickets fed one by one from a data writing station by a feeding mechanism and for temporarily holding the tickets in a layered condition thereon, a receiving plate located adjacent a ticket issuing port, and an operating member for discharging tickets on the holding plate onto the receiving plate when an issuing signal is issued. Thus, a plurality of tickets can be discharged at a time onto the receiving plate, thereby giving facilities to a person who tries to receive the tickets. The device further comprises a transferrer constituted by electromagnets, the holding plates, and a mechanism interconnecting them which operates when an issue stopping signal is issued to transfer tickets on the holding plate toward a storage. Thus, tickets to be withdrawn are automatically transferred into the storage, thereby giving facilities to a withdrawing person.

The sheet supply device comprises a sheet stocker including a lifting table mounted for up and down movement with a large number of sheets accumulated in layers thereon which sheets are different in thickness between opposite sides thereof and a paper feed roller for contacting with an uppermost one of the sheets, a string having one end fastened to each of opposite sides of the lifting table corresponding to the opposite sides of the sheets providing the difference in thickness, a first take-up drum or drums located corresponding to the thicker side of the sheets and each having the other end of the string corresponding to the thicker side of the sheets fastened thereto, a second take-up drum or drums located corresponding to the thinner side of the sheets and each having the other end of the string corresponding to the thinner side of the sheets fastened thereto.

Sheet supply device

In a printer, a bail is attached to a wall of a supply chamber which contains a single supply roll. The bail has a pivot which allows the bail to pivot for providing access to the supply roll. A flexible web has one end attached to the wall of the supply chamber and the other end attached to a forward edge of the bail, and moves with the bail to resiliently contain blousing of paper from the supply roll.

The invention provides a printing device in which a cutter unit for printing medium is rotatably supported by a pivot on the printing device body and located in such a position as to permit the printing head to be covered or exposed. The cutter unit, in its closed inoperable state, is interlockingly operated through an engaging lever by a separate drive system housed in the device body, but may be brought into or out of an interlocking engagement with the drive system, whereby a series of maintenance and checking operations such as the mounting and replacement of the ink ribbon, the cleaning of the interior of the printing device body and the removal of a jammed paper are carried out.

A paper guide arrangement for printing apparatus, includes a platen, a paper supply guide, a paper discharge guide, and a paper supply drive roller disposed at the paper supply guide for rotation by a motor. A paper supply contact roller is movably supported into and out of contact with the paper supply drive roller. A paper discharge drive roller is disposed at the paper discharge guide for rotation by the motor, and a paper discharge contact roller is movably supported into and out of contact with the drive roller. A support member for the paper supply contact roller serves to activate the motor to rotate the supply drive roller when the supply contact roller is brought into rolling contact with the supply drive roller, and to stop the drive of the motor to stop rotation of the supply drive roller when the supply contact roller is removed from the supply drive roller. The support member cooperates with a pivotable member which supports the discharge contact roller, so that the discharge contact roller is urged to retract from the discharge drive roller when the support member is moved to bring the supply contact roller into contact with the supply drive roller.

Paper guide arrangement for printing apparatus

An apparatus with a printer for a printing paper strip includes a paper feed guide having an outlet on one side of a platen, a paper discharge guide having an inlet on the other side of the platen, a unit frame attached to an apparatus housing to be able to rock between an open position where the paper discharge guide is exposed and a closed position where the paper discharge guide is covered and the printing paper strip is allowed to be guided, a drive roller provided to the apparatus housing located on the other side of the platen, a pinch roller mechanism provided to the unit frame and having a pinch roller which goes away from the drive roller when the unit frame is located in the open position, and approaches the driver roller when the unit frame is located in the closed position, and a rotation drive mechanism for rotating the drive roller to carry the printing paper strip from the paper feed guide to the paper discharge guide via the platen.

The present invention provides a printer in which a printing head confronting a platen and a paper pressing roller for pressing a recording paper are attached to the same levers mounted rotatably and turnably and the distance between the top end of the printing head and the platen can directly be changed according to the thickness of the recording paper to be inserted, whereby influences of changes of the paper thickness on the printing state can be eliminated substantially. In this printer, the distance between the top end of the printing head and the platen can be adjusted very precisely by a simple structure.
