An alkaline primary battery includes: a positive electrodecontaining manganese dioxide; an alkaline electrolyte containing zinc oxide; a gelled negative electrodecontaining zinc alloy particles, the alkaline electrolyte, and a gelling agent; and a negative electrode current collectorinserted in the gelled negative electrode. The gelled negative electrodehas a predetermined malleability such that when 4.0 g of the gelled negative electrodeformed into a cylindrical shape with a diameter of 15 mm is extended with 200 g of a load through 10 g of a flat plate, and then an upper surface of the extended gelled negative electrodeis approximated to a circle, this circle has a diameter ranging from 24 mm to 36 mm, both inclusive.

Alkaline primary battery

A positive electrode and a negative electrode are accommodated in a bottomed cylindrical battery case with a separator interposed therebetween, and an opening part of the battery case is sealed by means of a gasket. A body part of the battery case has a thickness in the range between 0.1 and 0.17 mm. The positive electrode is made of a material obtained by adding graphite to manganese dioxide. The density of the graphite in the material of the positive electrode is in the range between 0.12 and 0.23 g/cm.

AA alkaline battery

A gasket is made of an injection molded resin integral with a cylindrical boss portion having a through hole in which a current collector is inserted, a rim portion for sealing an opening of a battery case, and a connecting portion for connecting the boss portion and the rim portion, wherein the boss portion has an annular injection portion at an end face thereof, which is a trace of an injection molding gate, a ratio (S/S) between an axial cross-sectional area (S) of the boss portion and an axial cross-sectional area (S) of the injection portion is in the range of 10 to 25, and an outer diameter of the boss portion is in the range of 3.0 to 4.2 mm.

Battery gasket and alkaline battery using the same

The present invention provides an alkaline battery which has high reliability and high cost performance and does not cause an internal short circuit resulting from gel leakage even when the filling densities of the positive and negative electrodes are reduced. In the alkaline battery, a positive electrodecontains manganese dioxide as a positive electrode active material, a negative electrodeis a gel negative electrode containing zinc as a negative electrode active material, a filling density of manganese dioxide in the positive electrodeis in a range of 2.31 to 2.45 g/cm, a filling density of zinc in the negative electrodeis in a range of 1.49 to 1.65 g/cm, and a ratio (h/h) between a height of the positive electrode(h) and a height of the negative electrode(h) is in a range of 0.96 to 1.06.

Alkaline battery

An alkaline dry battery of this invention includes: a positive electrode including at least one of a manganese dioxide powder and a nickel oxyhydroxide powder; a negative electrode including a zinc alloy powder; a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; an alkaline electrolyte; and a battery case for housing the positive electrode, negative electrode, the separator, and the alkaline electrolyte. The negative electrode further includes a surfactant that adsorbs to a surface of the zinc alloy powder during a non-discharge period and promptly desorbs from the surface of the zinc alloy powder upon start of discharge without impeding ion transfer in the alkaline electrolyte.

Alkaline dry battery

A highly reliable cylindrical primary battery is provided where the surface temperature of a body portion of which at the time of a short circuit is controlled to be low. The heat conductivity &#x3bb; (W/m&#xb7;K) of a resin sealing body of a sealing assembly having a PTC element and the amount of heat generation Q (W) in the PTC element at the time of tripping are set so that the relational expressions of:0.12&#x2266;&#x3bb;&#x2266;0.27;&#x2003;&#x2003;(1)1.0&#x2266;Q&#x2266;1.5; and&#x2003;&#x2003;(2)&#x2266;&#x2212;3.33&#x3bb;+1.9 are met.&#x2003;&#x2003;(3)

Battery having positive temperature coefficient element

An alkaline battery of the present invention includes a battery case, a power generating element housed in the interior of the battery case, and an assembled sealing part for closing the opening of the battery case. The assembled sealing part includes a resin sealing member. The sealing member includes a central cylindrical portion having a through-hole for inserting a shank of a negative electrode current collector therethrough, a peripheral cylindrical portion interposed between the periphery of the negative electrode terminal plate and the end portion of the opening of the battery case, and a joint portion for joining the central cylindrical portion and the peripheral cylindrical portion. The end portion of the opening of the battery case is curved such that the top of the peripheral cylindrical portion of the sealing member is wrapped therein, and the curved portion is crimped inward so that the periphery of the negative electrode terminal plate is fixed tightly. The sealing member includes polyamide having an equilibrium moisture content at a relative humidity of 50% of 0.9 to 1.7%.

An alkaline battery according to the present invention includes: a power generation element including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator placed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and an electrolyte; a positive terminal portion electrically connected to the positive electrode; and a negative terminal portion electrically connected to the negative electrode. The negative electrode contains zinc powder or zinc alloy powder containing 15% by weight or more of particles having a particle size of 75 &#x3bc;m or less as a negative active material. A PTC element is provided in a current path that does not come into contact with the electrolyte at least one of between the positive electrode and the positive terminal portion and between the negative electrode and the negative terminal portion.

In order to enable the safer use of an assembly of multiple cells comprising: a plurality of unit cells; an outer container for housing the unit cells; a terminal plate for sealing an upper opening of the outer container; and a positive output terminal and a negative output terminal formed on the same face of the terminal plate, at least the side face of the negative output terminal is covered by a protective tube having an electrical insulation property.
