A ball spline nut is provided in each of tie bar penetrating holes formed in a moving platen constituting a mold clamping mechanism of an injection molding machine. On the other hand, a portion of a tie bar one end of which is fixed to a stationary platen, engaging with the tie bar penetrating hole in the moving platen, is made a ball spline shaft. Since there is no clearance between the ball spline shaft and the ball spline nut engaging therewith, in mold clamping and mold releasing processes, the posture of a movable mold attached to the moving platen with respect to a stationary mold attached to the stationary platen is always kept constant.

A nozzle touch mechanism for an injection molding machine capable of preventing inclination of a mold and a platen caused by a nozzle touch force, and carrying out maintenance and inspection of the injection mechanism with ease. A connection member is fixed to the stationary platen at opposite positions with respect to a nozzle touch position. One end of a ball-screw shaft of a ball screw mechanism is attached to the connection member rotatably. An injection mechanism is moved with an extruder bed by the ball-screw mechanism driven by a motor through a spring towards the stationary mold attached to the stationary platen, so that a nozzle of the injection mechanism touches a spool of the stationary mold. A nozzle touch force exerted on the stationary mold is transmitted to the connection member and balanced with a pulling force of the connection member transmitted from the ball-screw shaft. A moment is produced on the connection member but no moment is produced on the stationary platen. Thus, the stationary platen and the stationary mold are not inclined. The injection mechanism can be swivel about a swivel pin since the ball screw mechanism is not arranged on the side of the injection mechanism.

An automatic lubricator for an injection molding machine, capable of performing proper lubrication in accordance with operation environment of the injection molding machine. A lubrication interval Ls is controlled according to length of cycle time S of the injection molding machine so that the lubrication interval Ls is increased when the cycle time S is long and it is decreased when the cycle time S is short. An electric injection molding machine having a high degree of freedom in design, in which the design change of a part of the injection molding machine does not influence the whole design of the machine. The various layouts can be selected in accordance with a space in a factory in which the machine is to be installed. A base for a mechanical component and a housing for an electric component are provided separately and independently. A clamping unit and an injection unit of the mechanical component is mounted on the base. A power unit for supplying the mechanical component with electric power and a control unit for controlling the mechanical component of the electric component are accommodated in the housing. Over the whole range of the injection process, standard injection speeds and pressures are set and sections for injection speed control and sections for pressure control are set according to the length of time t, screw position S, or injection pressure P, each after the start of injection, or following the combination of the length of time and the screw position or of the length of time and the injection pressure. The arrival at the point of changeover from one control section to another is followed by a control mode shift. If the shift is made for speed control, injection speed is controlled in a manner such that actual injection speed may agree with one standard injection pressure, while if pressure control is selected by the shift, there is provided feedback control which is put into practice so that actual injection pressure may coincide with one standard injection pressure. During the injection process, injection control is effected by speed control or pressure control, whichever is optimal for each of respective sections, whereby stabilized injection molding may be assured.

A driving apparatus for an electrically-operated injection molding machine not requiring any bearing nor any connector. An electric motor having a rotor shaft on which a ball screw is integrally formed is mounted on one of a cross-head and a rear platen of a clamping mechanism, while a ball nut threadedly engaged with the rotor shaft is fixed to the other of the cross-head and the rear platen to constitute the driving apparatus for linearly moving the cross-head. As the ball screw is integrally formed on rotor shaft, any connector for connecting these two members is unnecessary. As the ball screw is directly rotated by the motor positioned coaxially with the ball screw, any bearing for bearing a redial force acting on the ball screw and rotor shaft. The apparatus may also be applied to an ejection mechanism, an injection mechanism and a nozzle touch mechanism of the electrically-operated injection molding machine.
