A low thermal expansion Ni-base superalloy contains, by weight % (hereinafter the same as long as not particularly defined) C: 0.15% or less; Si: 1% or less; Mn: 1% or less; Cr: 5 to 20%; at least one of Mo, W and Re of Mo+&#xbd;(W+Re) of 17 (exclusive) to 25%; Al: 0.2 to 2%; Ti: 0.5 to 4.5%; Fe of 10% or less; at least one of B: 0.02% and Zr: 0.2% or less; a remainder of Ni and inevitable impurities; wherein the atomic % of Al+Ti is 2.5 to 7.0.

Low thermal expansion Ni-base superalloy

A Ti-Al type lightweight heat-resistant consists essentially of 32 to 36% w of Al, 0.1 to 2.0% w of Si, 0.1 to 5.0% w of Nb, 0.1 to 3.0% w of Cr, and optionally 0.005 to 0.200% w of B, the balance being substantially Ti. The alloy has improved oxidation resistance together with excellent ductility and strength at room temperature and high temperature.

Ti-Al type lightweight heat-resistant materials containing Nb, Cr and Si

The improved superalloy that possesses all the characteristics required of the high-temperature structural material of high-temperature gas-cooled reactors (i.e., high-temperature strength, corrosion resistance, good productibility, good hot workability and resistance to embrittlement due to thermal aging) consists essentially of 16-28% Cr. 15-24% W (provided that Cr+W=39-44%), 0.01-0.1% Zr, 0.001-0.015% Y, 0.0005-0.01% B, up to 0.05% C, up to 0.1% Si, up to 0.1% Mn (provided that Si+Mn.gtoreq.0.1%), up to 0.1% Ti, up to 0.1% Al and up to 0.1% Nb (provided that Ti+Al.gtoreq.0.1% and Ti+Al+Nb.gtoreq.0.15%), with the balance being Ni and inevitable impurities and all percentages being on a weight basis.

Nickel-chromium-tungsten base superalloy

Disclosed is a method of jointing a member of Ti-Al alloy which mainly consists of an intermetallic compound, TiAl, and a member of structural steel. The jointing uses an intermediate member made of an austenitic stainless steel or a heat resistant steel, or a Ni-based or Co-based superalloy, between the above two members, and the jointing of the intermediate member and the structural steel member at least is carried out by friction welding. A typical example of the jointed machine part manufactured by this method is an engine valve.

Jointing Ti-A1 alloy member and structural steel member

A high strength stainless steel having a tensile strength of not less than 230 kgf/mm.sup.2 is disclosed, which comprises 0.01-0.015 st % of C and/or N, 1.0-4.0 wt % of Cu, 9.5-10.9 wt % of Ni, 12.0-17.0 wt % of Cr, 0.5-2.5 wt % of Al and/or Ti, 0.003-0.011 wt % of B, 0.02-0.2 wt % of Be and the balance of Fe, and has a temperature (Md.sub.30) of transforming 50% of austenite into martensite under a true strain of 0.3 within a range of from room temperature to -196.degree. C.

High strength stainless steel

Disclosed is an improved skid rail used in furnaces, particularly, the furnaces for heating steel pieces for hot processing. The skid rail uses, as the material of the skid members thereof, an oxide-dispersion reinforced type super alloy which comprises certain amounts of Cr, Fe, Al and Ti, and optionally a certain amount of Co, the balance being Ni, and contains fine particles of a high melting point metal oxide such a Y.sub.2 O.sub.3, ZrO.sub.2 and Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 dispersed in the austenitic matrix of the alloy.

Skid rail

Disclosed are Ti-Al alloys having increased ductility and Ti-Al alloys having increased ductility and lowered melting points, in both of which the main constituent phase is an intermetallic compound, TiAl. The Ti-Al alloys having increased ductility essentially consisting of Al: 28-38%, and B: 0.005-0.3%, the balance being Ti and inevitable impurities. Since the alloys of this type have good processability, they are suitable as materials for mechanical parts of rotating or reciprocating systems, where high heat-resistance and high specific strength are required. The Ti-Al alloys having increased ductility as well as lowered melting points essentially consisting of Al: 28-38%, one or two of Ni: 0.05-3.0% and Si: 0.05-3.0%, and the balance being Ti and inevitable impurities. Optionally, this alloy further contains B: 0.005-0.3%. The alloy of this type is, in addition to the above use, suitable for producing machine parts made by precision casting technology.

Ti-Al intermetallics containing boron for enhanced ductility

A heat-resisting steel suitable for use in valve parts of internal combustion engine is disclosed, which consists essentially by weight percentage of 0.3-0.5% of C, more than 1.0% to 2.5% of Si, 0.1-2.0% of Mn, 0.5-7.0% of Cr, 0.3-2.0% of Mo and 0.1-1.0% of V as basic ingredients, at least one of 0.3-2.0% of Cu and 0.001-0.05% of REM as sub-ingredients and if necessary, at least one of 0.1 to less than 2.0% of Ni, 0.1-1.5% of W and 0.03-1.0% of Nb+Ta, and the balance of Fe and inevitable impurities.

Heat-resisting steels

A solid solution strengthened iron-base austenitic alloy is suitable for use in nuclear reactors having low oxidizing environment. It has a composition of 8 up to but not including 16.0% by weight of Cr, 14-35% by weight of Ni, 5-15% by weight of Mo plus 0.522 W, up to 1.0% by weight of Ti, up to 2% by weight of Mn, up to 1% by weight of Si, up to 0.1% by weight of C and the balance iron and unavoidable impurities.
