The invention provides an image forming apparatus having sheet supply device, image forming device for forming an image on a sheet supplied by the sheet supply device, fixing device for fixing the image formed on the sheet, a sheet guide for guiding the movement of the sheet, and a control board bearing an element for controlling the image forming device, wherein the sheet guide positioned between the sheet supply device and the fixing device is provided substantially linearly in such a manner that the sheet moves in an inclined upward direction, and the control board is provided in a space under the sheet guide and at the bottom face of the apparatus.

An optical information recording/reproducing apparatus is provided for recording information with an optical beam in an optical information recording medium enclosed in a cartridge and/or reproducing the information therefrom. The apparatus includes a holder for holding the cartridge to be inserted thereinto, a slide plate for moving the holder between a position where the slide plate receives the cartridge to be inserted into the apparatus and a position where the cartridge is loaded at a predetermined position in the apparatus, an optical head for irradiating the optical beam onto the optical information recording medium in the cartridge to record and/or reproduce information, and a restricting device for restricting movement of the slide plate during recording and/or reproducing information by the optical head. In one embodiment, the apparatus may further include a magnetic head for applying a modulation magnetic field according to the information to the recording medium and a floating slider for supporting the magnetic head to be capable of floating relative to the recording medium, in which the restricting device restricts the movement of the slide plate while the magnetic head is landing on the recording medium.

Disk cartridge loading mechanism

A shutter opening device has a cartridge for containing a disk-like recording medium, a first arm and a second arm. The first arm is so provided as to be able to contact a shutter leading portion of the cartridge inserted in the device and to be pivotable with the insertion operation. The second arm is provided on the first arm. The second arm is kept engaged with an end face of the shutter in a direction parallel to the inserting direction while the first arm is being pivoted, and the shutter is opened by the pivotal movement of the first arm.

Disclosed is an apparatus for recording information on and/or reproducing information from a disk-like recording medium with a light beam. The apparatus includes a box-like casing in which are provided a rotary drive mechanism for rotating the recording medium, an optical head having a movable portion on which at least an objective lens is mounted and a fixed portion on which at least the light source for emitting the light beam and a detector for detecting light reflected by the recording medium are mounted, and an electric circuit board having at least a control circuit for controlling the conditions of irradiation of the recording medium with the light beam and the movement of the optical head. Shielding plates are provided to separate the recording medium and the movable portion of the optical head from the rotary drive mechanism, the electric circuit board and the fixed portion of the optical head, and a cooling fan is also provided to cool the rotary drive mechanism, the electric circuit board and the fixed portion of the optical head.

A timepiece movement has a case in which are mounted a driving motor, a gear train driven by the motor, a printed circuit board having a driving circuit for driving the motor, and a battery accommodating portion for replaceably receiving a battery. A pair of battery contacts for electrically connecting the battery to the printed circuit board are provided on the outer surface of the case. One end of each of the battery contacts extends through an opening in the case to make elastic contact with the battery, and the other end of each of the battery contacts extends through another opening in the case to make elastic contact with the printed circuit board.
