When a facsimile device detects an audio signal via a CNG signal detection unit while detecting an OFF signal in a CNG signal during a telephone conversation, the facsimile device does not detect the audio signal as an OFF signal if the level of the detected audio signal is greater than a threshold and the frequency of the audio signal is within a predetermined audio frequency range. Accordingly, the facsimile device can reliably prevent a false detection of a noise that has a similar signal component to a CNG signal as a CNG signal. It is possible to prevent the facsimile machine from being automatically shifted to a facsimile receiving mode by the false detection of the noise.

Communication device

In an IP telephone terminal, a function implementation controlling unit is configured so as to be capable of controlling implementation of a function instructed by a file received via IP telephone communications when the communicating unit receives the file. The configuration data storing unit stores configuration data that is used by the function implementation controlling unit to implement the function. The configuration data acquisition controlling unit performs control to acquire configuration data from the configuration data storing unit when a communicating unit receives a read file that is transmitted from an external IP telephone terminal. The response file generation controlling unit performs control to generate a response file including the configuration data. The response file transmission controlling unit controls a communicating unit to transmit the response file to the external IP telephone terminal that has transmitted the read file. The update controlling unit performs, when the communicating unit receives a write file, control to update the configuration data based on the write file that is transmitted from the external IP telephone terminal that has received the response file.

When a facsimile device detects an audio signal via a CNG signal detection unit while detecting an OFF signal in a CNG signal during a telephone conversation, the facsimile device does not detect the audio signal as an OFF signal if the level of the detected audio signal is greater than a threshold and the frequency of the audio signal is within a predetermined audio frequency range. Accordingly, the facsimile device can reliably prevent a false detection of a noise that has a similar signal component to a CNG signal as a CNG signal. It is possible to prevent the facsimile machine from being automatically shifted to a facsimile receiving made by the false detection of the noise.

A call system for performing a voice call by an Internet call function using a known telephone terminal. In a multifunction machine serving as the telephone terminal, the output destination and the input source of audio signals input/output from/to a transmitter/receiver may be switched to an audio I/F. In the switched state, audio based on audio signals input/output from/to an outside source through the audio I/F is output/input from the transmitter/receiver. Therefore, when the multifunction machine is connected to a PC having the Internet call function such that audio signals can be input/output through an audio cable, an indirect audio call by the Internet call function with the transmitter/receiver is available. When an incoming call from a telephone line network is received, reception of the incoming call is notified so that a user can confirm the reception of the incoming call during the voice call by the Internet call function.

In a communication system, a call center is connectable via a communication line to a facsimile apparatus having a printing function. The facsimile apparatus reads ribbon-ID data of an ink ribbon mounted therein, and sends the read ribbon-ID data to the center device. The call center receives the ribbon-ID data from the facsimile apparatus, judges whether or not the ribbon-ID data is valid, and returns a result of the judgment to the facsimile apparatus.

An IP telephone apparatus having a plurality of types of calling functions including a telephone calling function for telecommunicating via a telephone network and a network calling function for telecommunicating via a computer network. The IP telephone apparatus includes a calling function detection unit configured to detect which calling function of the telephone calling function and the network calling function is selected, and a calling function notification unit that notifies a user that at least one of general telephone using the telephone calling function and network telephone using the network calling function is being in operation according to a detection result of the calling function detection unit.

A communication terminal apparatus which includes a non-volatile memory device that stores parameters of various kinds, and a control device that performs an operation based on at least the parameters. The non-volatile memory device includes a read-only non-volatile memory, for example, a ROM, storing parameters regarding a plurality of geographical divisions, such as countries, areas and the like, and a re-writable non-volatile memory, for example, an EEPROM, capable of storing at least the parameters. When some trouble occurs to a facsimile apparatusthat reads component-identification information of an ink ribbon cartridgeand it is impossible to read the component-identification information even if the ink ribbon cartridgeis a standard product, a permanent release mode is set to permanently prohibit an identification information reading processing (S). On the other hand, when any trouble does not occur to the facsimile apparatusbut some trouble occurs to the ink ribbon cartridge, it is impossible to read the component-identification information so long as the ink ribbon cartridgeis used. Therefore, a temporary release mode is set to temporarily prohibit the identification information reading processing (S). Accordingly, it becomes possible to reduce an economical burden on a user and to perform a printing operation with favorable printing quality.

An IP telephone apparatus for executing a telephone call through a computer network. In a versatile communication device having a telephone function and a facsimile function, an erroneous detection of an on-hold melody as a control signal, such as a calling tone (CNG) signal, is prevented when the on-hold melody is played during an on-hold period of the telephone, thereby preventing the device from mistakenly switching connection to the facsimile function during the on-hold period. Further, the on-hold melody containing a signal component of the CNG signal or other control signal is prevented from sending to the remote device, so the remote device provided with a facsimile function does not switch to a facsimile mode during the on-hold status of the voice communication.

Versatile communication device with a facsimile function and a telephone function

When the power source of a personal computer is on (S :ON) and when the communication software of the personal computer is running (S :YES), then the reception speed of transmission data serially transmitted from a remote device is written in the reception speed counter in S . The size of a single packet of transmission data, to be transferred to the personal computer, in changed based on the value stored in the reception speed counter. Accordingly, for any value of the reception speed, a transfer interval can be maintained in a fixed value so that the communication software in the personal computer will generate no time-out error signal.
