A constant-velocity universal joint includes: an outer ring; an inner ring; a plurality of balls that engages with the outer-ring ball grooves and the inner-ring ball, grooves; and a holder that is interposed between an inner spherical surface of the outer ring and an outer spherical surface of the inner ring and in which a holding window for holding the plurality of balls is formed. A chamfered portion is formed in the inner ring. The chamfered portion includes a linear section portion that is formed in a linear shape in a section perpendicular to a moving locus of the center of the corresponding ball and an arc section portion that is formed in a protruding arc shape in the section perpendicular to the moving locus of the center of the corresponding ball.

A process for producing silicon carbide short fibers comprises oxidizing metallic silicon powder in an oxidizing gas atmosphere into silicon monoxide in the form of ultrafine particles or gas, and carbonizing said silicon monoxide in a reducing gas atmosphere containing carbon at temperatures being lower than temperatures for producing powder and falling in a temperature range for causing a heterogenous core formation of silicon carbide, thereby producing silicon carbide short fibers. The process of the present invention is capable of mass-producing silicon carbide short fibers continuously in a short time.

Production process of silicon carbide short fibers

A process for producing silicon ceramic powder, which comprises, oxidizing metallic silicon powder in an oxidizing gas atmosphere into silicon monoxide in the form of ultrafine particles or gas, and reducing said silicon monoxide in a reducing gas atmosphere containing at least nitrogen or carbon, thereby producing silicon nitride, silicon carbide or mixtures thereof.

Production of silicon ceramic powders

A process for producing ultra-fine ceramic particles with the particle size of less than 1000 .ANG., which comprises the steps of forming powdered dust cloud of metal powder such as Si constituting a portion of aimed ceramic particles in a reaction gas containing the other portion of said aimed ceramic particles, igniting said powdered dust cloud to cause explosive burning and synthesizing said aimed ceramic particles and gathering said resulting ceramic particles. By the process, ceramic particles such as Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, MgO, SiO.sub.2, TiO.sub.2, TiN having particle size of 10-100 nm can be produced.

Process for producing ultra-fine ceramic particles

A method for making fine powder of a metallic compound coated with ceramics is described. In the method, a gaseous mixture of at least one metal vapor constituting one component of a metallic compound and a carrier gas for the at least one metal vapor is passed at a speed of 50 to 2000 m/second into another element constituting the other element of the metallic compound or in an atmosphere of a gas containing the other element, which is heated to a temperature of not larger than 0.8 time as low as a melting point of the at least one metal so that the metal vapor and another element are reacted with each other while rapidly cooling, thereby obtaining a fine powder of a metallic compound. The metallic compound fine powder is further passed into other metal vapor or other metallic compound vapor to cover the metallic compound fine powder with the film of the other metal or metallic compound.

Method for making a fine powder of a metal compound having ceramic

A method for making ultra-fine ceramic particles, in which metal powder constituting a portion of the ultra-fine ceramic particles intended for production is injected at a rate of not less than 70 grams per minute into a plasma jet so that the metal powder is vaporized. The vaporized metal powder is then mixed with a reactive gas, which includes an element consituting the other portion of the ultra-fine ceramic particles, filled in the surrounding area of the plasma jet, and thereby the vaporized metal powder and the reactive gas produce a synthetic reaction. The ultra-fine ceramic particles are produced continuously because of the reaction flame.
