An ostomy pouch includes a collection pouch having a first side wall and a second side wall connected to one another along a periphery, the collection pouch having a collection cavity defined between the first and second side walls, an outlet connected to and extending from the collection pouch, the outlet defining an internal passageway connected to the collection cavity, the outlet having a coupling element, and a drainage adapter configured to engage the coupling element so as to be coupled to the outlet. The outlet is foldable to a closed condition to close the collection pouch and unfoldable to an open condition to drain the collection pouch.

The system comprises a wafer part having a rise extending away from a body surface to form a guide means and a shallow landing zone; a pouch part having a guide adapted to engage with the landing zone in a desired location relative to the guide means; and an adhesive layer recessed within the guide and adapted to adhere to the landing zone.

A drainable pouch is disclosed which comprises a pair of sidewalls of flexible sheet material having side edges joined together to define a cavity having a discharge end provided with an outlet valve for draining the cavity. The sidewalls also are joined together throughout a central region thereof such that the cavity formed by the sidewalls completely surrounds the central region. With this construction, the central region defines a peripheral edge and has at least one opening in a location which is spaced inwardly of the peripheral edge to receive and secure the outlet valve when the discharge end has been folded.
