A method for determining the moisture content in an absorbent sanitary product, in particular a diaper, incontinence pad or incontinence briefs, or sanitary towel, wherein liquid is first applied to the sanitary product under preferably predetermined conditions and subsequently the article is spread out in a planar fashion. A plurality of zoned measurement areas is defined over the planar extension of the spread-out sanitary article, and a measured value is taken in each measurement area or with respect to each measurement area.

An absorbent incontinence diaper () has a rear area (), a front area () and an intermediate crotch area (), first and second side edges (), and with a main part () having an inner face directed towards the body and an outer face directed away from the body. The invention relates to an absorbent incontinence diaper () with a rear area (), a front area () and a crotch area () lying between these, and with first and second side edges (), and with a main part () having an inner face directed towards the body and an outer face directed away from the body during use of the diaper, the main part () comprising an absorption body () and a backsheet () on the side of the absorption body () directed away from the body, the absorption body () having a smaller width than the backsheet (), and with side parts () joined to the first and second side edges (), the side parts () having an inner face and an outer face, and the side parts () in the rear area having closure means () with mechanical closure aids (). To correctly secure the diaper on the body of a user, the mechanical closure means () can be secured detachably at least in regions both on the outer face of the main part () and also on the outer face of the side parts () in the front area (). The retaining forces between the mechanical closure means () and the outer face of the main part are lower than the retaining forces between the mechanical closure means () and the outer face of the side parts () in the front area ().
