This disclosure relates generally to radar retroreflective articles comprising one or more dielectric layers adjacent to a reflective layer, wherein the dielectric layer or layers aids in increasing the radar cross section of the radar retroreflective articles.

Radar retroreflective article

The disclosed patterned wavelength-selective material and process for making the patterned wavelength-selective material uses patterned applied adhesive and a structurally weak wavelength-selective material that includes portions that contact the adhesive and break to remain in contact with the adhesive. In one embodiment, the wavelength-selective material comprises an array of sections with cuts at least partially through a wavelength-selective film at each section secured to the adhesive. In another embodiment, the wavelength-selective film comprises a transfer stack of layers.

Patterned wavelength-selective film

In some examples, a method may include receiving retroreflected light that indicates at least one retroreflective property of a retroreflective article, wherein retroreflected light is captured at a first distance. The method may include determining a first set of information based at least in part on the at least one retroreflective property of the retroreflective article. The method may include receiving, from the light capture device, an image that includes at least one object, wherein the image is captured at a second distance. The method may include determining, based at least in part on the spatially resolvable property, a second set of information that corresponds to the object in the image. The method may include performing, by a computing device, at least one operation based at least in part on the second set of information.

Multi-distance information processing using retroreflected light properties

In some examples, a retroreflective article may include a retroreflective substrate, and an optical pattern embodied on the retroreflective substrate. The optical pattern may include a first optical sub-pattern and a second optical sub-pattern, wherein the optical pattern represents a set of information that is interpretable based on a combination of the first optical sub-pattern that is visible in a first light spectrum and the second optical sub-pattern that is visible in a second light spectrum. The first and second light spectra may be different.

Hyperspectral optical patterns on retroreflective articles

Systems, assemblies, and methods for detecting changes in polarization states are described. Example systems may include a light receiving unit including a sensor and a receiving polarizer. The sensor is configured to sense light from a polarized light source deflected through the receiving polarizer by a light directing article. The sensor is configured to generate a signal indicative a received polarization state of light deflected by the light directing articles. Such systems may be coupled to vehicles and may be useful for sensor-detectable signs, indicia, and markings to facilitate automated or assisted vehicular transport.

The disclosed pavement marking system provides information about the arrangement of the pavement marking to a sensor on a vehicle for to identify a particular lane on a roadway. The pavement marking system comprises a sensor placed on a vehicle and at least a first pavement marking and a second pavement marking, wherein each of the first pavement marking a second pavement marking comprising different properties.

A distribution cabling tape comprises a resilient polymeric base sheet having a first major surface and a second major surface, the first major surface having a continuous lengthwise channel formed in a first portion thereof. The tape also includes an adhesive layer disposed on a second and third portion of the first major surface, the adhesive layer capable of adhering to a concrete or asphalt surface, such as a road, curb, or walkway.

An adhesion promoter coating composition includes an oligomeric alkylalkoxysiloxane and a compound comprising an electrophile moiety and an alkoxysilyl moiety. The electrophile moiety may contain a sulfide functional group, for example. A dust suppression coating composition includes an acrylic polymer comprising a quaternary ammonium moiety; and an oligomeric alkylalkoxysiloxane. A process for forming a fluid control film is also provided. Further, a process for cleaning a structured surface is provided, including providing a structured surface and a hydrophilic surface treatment covalently bonded to at least a portion of the structured surface, and soiling the structured surface with a material. The process also includes removing the material by at least one of submerging the structured surface in an aqueous fluid, rinsing the structured surface with an aqueous fluid, condensing an aqueous fluid on the structure surface, or wiping the structured surface with a cleaning implement.

An amphiphilic polymer comprising: at least 10 wt-% monomeric units comprising alkylene oxide moieties, wherein a majority of the alkylene oxide moieties are ethylene oxide moieties; monomeric units comprising hexafluoropropylene oxide oligomeric moieties having the formula CFO&#x2014;(CF(CF)CFO)CF(CF)&#x2014;C(O)N(H)-Q-, wherein Q is a linking group with at least one carbon atom, and 'a' is at least 5; and monomeric units comprising pendant groups selected from phosphate groups, phosphonate groups, sulfonate groups, and combinations thereof; wherein the amphiphilic polymer is water dispersible; aqueous coating compositions containing the amphiphilic polymer; and methods of treating a hard surface.

Amphiphilic polymers, coating compositions, and methods

A coating composition is disclosed. The coating composition includes a poly(methyl methacrylate) polymer or copolymer having a weight average molecular weight of at least 50,000 grams per mole; monomer comprising at least one of an alkylene diacrylate, alkylene dimethacrylate, cycloalkylene diacrylate, or cycloalkylenedimethacrylate, wherein the at least one of an alkylene diacrylate, alkylene dimethacrylate, cycloalkylene diacrylate, or cycloalkylenedimethacrylate provides at least 80 percent by weight of the monomer; and a stabilizer against ultraviolet light. An article including a coating on a surface of a substrate and a method of making the article are also disclosed. The coating on the surface of the substrate is obtained by curing the disclosed coating composition.

The invention provides a frameless photo-energy assembly including a photo-energy converter, wherein an edge of the photo-energy converter is sealed by an adhesive tape, comprising an adhering layer for adhesion and cushioning; and an aging-resistant protective layer. The adhering layer is used to contact the edge of an article and comprises: a substrate layer; optionally, a first adhesive layer and a second adhesive layer situated at both sides of the substrate layer oppositely, wherein the first adhesive layer being used to be contact with the article. The aging-resistant protective layer is situated on the adhering layer, which comprises: an optional primer layer, which is situated on the adhering layer; and a film layer, which is situated on either the primer layer or the substrate or the second adhesive layer. The invention further provides an adhesive tape for sealing an edge of an article and an article made of the assembly.
