Disclosed are shampoo compositions that provide a superior combination of anti-dandruff efficacy and conditioning, and a method of cleansing and conditioning the hair comprising applying to the hair and scalp an amount of said compositions. The anti-dandruff and conditioning shampoos comprise: (A) from about 5% to about 50%, by weight, of an anionic surfactant; (B) from about 0.01% to about 10%, by weight, of a non-volatile conditioning agent; (C) from about 0.1% to about 4%, by weight, of an anti-dandruff agent; (D) from about 0.02% to about 5%, by weight, of at least one cationic polymer; and (E) water. The compositions (A) have a bioavailability/coverage index value, as defined herein, of at least about 1.25; (B) have a first conditioning index value, as defined herein, of less than or equal to about 1.0; (C) have a second conditioning index value, as defined herein, of at least about 1.5; and (D) have a minimal inhibitory concentration index value, as defined herein, of at least about 0.125.

Shampoos providing a superior combination anti-dandruff efficacy and condition

Disclosed are shampoo compositions that provide a superior combination of anti-dandruff efficacy and conditioning, and a method of cleansing and conditioning the hair comprising applying to the hair and scalp an effective amount of said compositions. The anti-dandruff and conditioning shampoos comprise: (A) from about 5% to about 50%, by weight of the composition, of an anionic surfactant; (B) from about 0.01% to about 10%, by weight of the composition, of a non-volatile conditioning agent; (C) from about 0.1% to about 4%, by weight of the composition, of an anti-dandruff particulate; (D) from about 0.02% to about 5%, by weight of the composition, of at least one cationic polymer; (E) from 0.005% to about 1.5%, by weight of the composition, of a polyalkylene glycol corresponding to the formula: H(OCH &mdash;CHR) &mdash;OH, (i) wherein R is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl and mixtures thereof, (ii) wherein n is an integer having an average value from about 1,500 to about 120,000; and (F) water.

Anti-dandruff and conditioning shampoos containing polyalkylene glycols and cationic polymers

Disclosed are styling shampoo compositions with improved styling performance, and which comprise (a) from about 5% to about 50% by weight of a surfactant component selected from the group consisting of a combination of an anionic surfactant and an amphoteric surfactant, and a combination of an anionic surfactant and a zwitterionic surfactant; (b) from about 0.025% to about 3% by weight of a cationic deposition polymer having a cationic charge density of from about 0.2 meq/gram to about 2 meq/gram and which is selected from the group consisting of cationic cellulose polymers, cationic guar gum derivatives, and mixtures thereof, (c) from about 0.5% to about 10% by weight of an organic cationic hair styling polymer having a cationic charge density of greater than about 2 meq/gram to less than about 4.75 meq/gram; and (d) from about 27% to about 94.5% by weight water. Especially effective are those styling shampoo compositions containing a combination of Polyquaternium-16 as the cationic styling polymer, Polyquaternium-10 as a cationic deposition polymer, and a surfactant matrix comprising a combination of ammonium laureth sulfate and cocoamidopropyl betaine.

Styling shampoo compositions containing cationic styling polymers and cationic deposition polymers

Disclosed are hair styling shampoo compositions which comprise from about 5% to about 50% by weight of a surfactant selected from the group consisting of anionic surfactants, zwitterionic or amphoteric surfactants having an attached group that is anionic at the pH of the composition, and combinations thereof; from about 0.025% to about 3% by weight of an organic cationic polymer having a cationic charge density of from about 0.2 meq/gm to about 7 meq/gm and a molecular weight of from about 5,000 to about 10 million; from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of a water-insoluble hair styling polymer; from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of a water-insoluble volatile solvent; and from about 0.05% to about 5% by weight of select cationic materials for use as spreading agents for the styling polymer; and from about 22% to about 94.3% by weight water. The composition provides improved spreading efficiency of the styling polymer onto hair, thus providing improved styling performance from the shampoo composition.

Disclosed are aqueous hair conditioning shampoo compositions comprising a specific surfactant component comprising an ethoxylated alkyl sulfate surfactant having from about 1 to about 8 moles of ethoxylation and an amphoteric surfactant in a shampoo with insoluble, dispersed conditioning agent, a low viscosity organic conditioning oil and a select soluble cellulosic cationic organic polymer hair conditioning agent.

Disclosed are hair conditioning shampoo compositions comprising from about 5% to about 50% by weight of a detersive surfactant, from about 0.05% to about 10% by weight of a silicone hair conditioning agent, from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of a suspending agent, from about 0.025% to about 1.5% by weight of selected polyalkylene glycols, preferably polyethylene glycols having from about 1,500 to about 25,000 degrees of ethoxylation, and water, and optionally one or more additional materials known for use in shampoo or conditioning compositions, which compositions provide excellent cleansing and conditioning benefits, and further provide enhanced conditioning impression by way of enhanced spreadability through hair, and denser, thicker lather.

Conditioning shampoos containing polyalkylene glycol

Disclosed are aqueous conditioning shampoo compositions which comprise an anionic detersive surfactant component; dispersed, liquid, droplets of a water insoluble, hair conditioning agent having a number average particle diameter of from about 0.01 microns to about 2000 microns; from about 0.025% to about 5% by weight of an organic, cationic, non crosslinked, deposition or conditioning polymer having a cationic charge density of from about 4 meq/gm to about 7 meq/gm and an average molecular weight of from about 1,000 to about 1 million. The cationic polymer, in combination with anionic detersive surfactant component and other essential components, provides improved deposition of the conditioning agent on hair or skin, even when the dispersed conditioning agent particles have a number average particle size of up to about 2,000 microns. The composition may be applied to skin or hair, and provides improved conditioning performance even without the use of the dispersed hair conditioning agent particles.
