A locomotive includes an engine (), an intercooler (), and an oil cooler (), each having respective cooling passages formed therein. The locomotive also includes a cooling system () in selective communication with the respective cooling passages for selectively providing a first coolant () and a second coolant () at a higher temperature than the first coolant to the cooling passages. A method of operating the cooling system includes providing, in a first mode, a first coolant flow () to the intercooler and a second coolant flow () to the oil cooler at a first temperature different than the first coolant flow to achieve preferential cooling of the intercooler. The method also includes providing, in a second mode, the first coolant flow to the intercooler and the second coolant flow to the oil cooler at a second temperature different than the first coolant flow to achieve preferential cooling of the oil cooler.

Integrated engine control and cooling system for diesel engines

A flash steam generator to be used as an integral component of a steam sterilizer. The generator is constructed of a metal block having a first bore drilled lengthwise through the metal block. Surrounding the first bore are a plurality of additional heater bores in which heating elements are inserted. The generator is integral to the sterilizer piping and control systems. Water is supplied to the first bore by the sterilizer piping system, and electricity is supplied to the heating elements by the sterilizer power supply. The heating elements convert the electricity to heat, which transfers via the metal block to the first bore where the heat rapidly boils the water contained therein in what is essentially a flash vaporization process.

Integral flash steam generator

A steam sterilizer device having a steam generation system is disclosed. The steam generation system has a fluid connection to a water source (1) to provide water to a venturi apparatus (27) for the selective creation of a vacuum in a sterilization chamber (71). A fluid connection to a particle filter (33) and a reverse osmosis filter (37) is also provided and water passed through the filters is delivered by a metering pump (53) to a steam generating apparatus (59) which in turn supplies steam to a the chamber (71). The chamber (71) is provided with a discharge conduit including a mixing chamber (31) and a split tubing air break (131).

Steam delivery system for a decontamination apparatus

A steam sterilization device (10) including a chamber (12) having a slidable sealable door (30). A flexible insulating plastic member (74) covers the sealable door (30). The sterilization device (10) includes a frame (20, 22, 24, 28, 50) supporting the chamber (12). A front wall (60) of molded plastic covers the frame. A stop bracket (46) is secured to a door track (36) at the appropriate location below the door to limit travel. At least one counter weight (42) is secured to the door (30) by a cable (38) and a guide member (44) surrounds the counter weight.

Steam decontamination apparatus

An indirect locking and lock release mechanism is provided that permits remote actuation of the lock release function and automatic reset of the locking function in a chamber. Linear actuation of a push rod from a transfer platform causes linear actuation of a linearly aligned push rod on the ramp which in turn causes pivotal movement of a blocking member from a locked to an unlocked position in the chamber. A detent device on the transfer platform sealed in an airtight workstation permits remote actuation of the locking components in the chamber from a worksuit provided in the workstation. The locking function is automatically reset without any intervention by the user of the workstation.

Indirect lock and lock release mechanism

An apparatus for transferring a loading car to a sterilizer chamber having a frame defining an opening, the apparatus comprises a chamber track adapted for supporting the loading car and wherein the chamber track is positioned within the chamber; a carriage track adapted for supporting the loading car and wherein the carriage track is configured to extend parallel to and in axial alignment with the chamber track; connecting devices mounted on an end of the carriage track; and a bridge having a top surface and a bottom surface, the bridge pivotally mounted adjacent the opening of the chamber wherein the bridge may pivot between an open and a closed position, the top surface adapted for supporting the loading car, and the bridge having receiving devices adapted for receiving the connecting devices when the bridge is in the open position.

Sterilizer loading car transfer apparatus

An indirect locking and lock release mechanism is provided that permits remote actuation of the lock release function and automatic reset of the locking function in a chamber. Components on a transfer carrier permit remote actuation of locking components in a chamber through intermediate components on a ramp between the chamber and the transfer carrier. Members are provided to secure the transfer carrier to the ramp. Linear actuation of a push rod at the remote end of the transfer carrier causes linear actuation of a linearly aligned push rod on the ramp which in turn causes pivotal movement of a blocking member from a locked to an unlocked position in the chamber. Fail safe mechanisms are provided to prevent movement of the blocking member to the unlocked position when the transfer carrier is not secured to the ramp.

A closure for a pressure vessel of the type in which the pressure vessel door is preferably slidably attached to the pressure vessel by door retention assemblies. The door is constructed of a plate member to which bars are attached at opposing edges of the door. Slider portions are inset in a portion of the surface of each slider bar to enhance sliding contact with the door retention assemblies in sliding door embodiments of the invention. A plurality of reinforcing members span the plate member between slider bars and taper from a maximum elevation at or adjacent the center of the reinforcing member to a minimum elevation at the edges of the reinforcing member, where a flange sandwiches the slider bars between the plate member and the flange.
