A titanium alloy comprising an elevated level of oxygen is disclosed. The alloy may have 5.5 to 6.75 weight percent of aluminum, 3.5 to 4.5 weight percent of vanadium, 0.21 to 0.30 weight percent of oxygen, and up to 0.40% of weight percent of iron. The alloy may also have a minimum ultimate tensile strength of 130,000 psi, a minimum tensile yield strength of 120,000 psi, and a minimum ductility of 10% elongation. Also disclosed is a method for manufacturing components having the aforementioned alloy.

Oxygen-enriched Ti-6AI-4V alloy and process for manufacture

Titanium-tungsten alloys are described comprising tungsten ranging from about 9% to about 20% by weight, and titanium ranging from about 91% to about 80% by weight, exhibiting a yield strength of at least 120,000 psi, and a ductility of at least 20% elongation. Methods of making the alloy, and products made with the alloys are also disclosed herein.

Homogeneous titanium tungsten alloys produced by powder metal technology

Disclosed herein are extruded titanium metal matrix composites with enhanced ductility. Also disclosed is the extrusion at high extrusion ratio of titanium metal matrix composites produced by powder metal processes. The ductility and machinability of these titanium metal matrix composites extruded at high extrusion ratios combined with their wear resistance and excellent imaging characteristics makes these high extrusion ratio extruded titanium metal matrix composites useful as biological implants, including prosthetic devices. Also disclosed are articles such as orthopedic implants for knee, hip, spine or other biomedical devices, with enhanced properties, made from the disclosed extruded material.

High extrusion ratio titanium metal matrix composites

A low cost titanium, titanium alloy material, or Ti matrix composite comprising clean and divided titanium turnings that are blended with titanium, titanium alloy powder, and/or ceramic powder and consolidated is provided. A method of making the material is also provided. The low cost material is formed into preshapes, such as a billet, which is subsequently used as feedstock for extrusion, forging, casting, or rolling.

Titanium/aluminum composite bat

A consumable billet for melting and casting a metal matrix composite component is made of a consolidated powder metal matrix composite having a titanium or titanium alloy matrix reinforced with particles. The preferred billet is a blended and sintered powder metal composite billet incorporating titanium carbide or titanium boride into a Ti--6Al--4V alloy.

P/M titanium composite casting

A titanium-based microcomposite material includes first and second constituents. The first constituent is titanium or a titanium-based alloy. The second constituent is about 1% to about 50% by volume titanium aluminide. The microstructure of the microcomposite material includes smaller portions of titanium aluminide uniformly distributed among larger portions of titanium or a titanium-based alloy. The microcomposite material has improved elevated temperature properties and an increased strength-to-weight ratio.
