The present disclosure describes intraluminal support devices having high radial stiffness regions with smaller diameter and low radial stiffness regions with larger diameter. When deployed to the vasculature of a patient in need of treatment, the high radial stiffness region is sized such that it has approximately the diameter of the vessel in need of treatment, so that it produces substantially zero chronic radial force when the vessel is not being subjected to external compression. The low radial stiffness regions anchor the device to the vessel wall and provide a less-abrupt transition from the high radial stiffness structure. Methods of making and using such devices are also described.

Variable radial stiffness and variable diameter intraluminal device

An occlusion device includes first and second crossing frame elements each of annular ring-shape, as well as first and second annular support elements connected to respective extremities of the crossing frame elements. The frame and support elements are provided with covers made of a substantially impervious material. The occluder may include a covering sleeve of stretchable material. The occluder substantially stops or reduces the flow of blood therethrough, creating blood statis and subsequent occlusion by clot formation within the occluder. The structure of the frame elements ensures good edge sealing and enhanced fixation of the occluder in a vessel as blood pressure impinges upon the covers of the occluder.

Vascular occluder with crossing frame elements

A vascular occluder includes first and second baffle members which are formed of an expansion device such as a stent across which extends an impermeable membrane. The baffle members are held at a given separation by spacer elements. The separation creates a chamber between the baffle members in which the blood is able to stagnate, thereby creating a second occlusion barrier. One of the baffle members may have an aperture within its membrane for receiving a delivery catheter for delivery of thrombogenic agent into the chamber. The occluder has a given length, thereby making it suitable for implantation in difficult vessel sections and is also able to avoid problems of recanalization of the vessel which can occur with prior art occluders.

Double baffle vascular occluder

An intravascular filter assembly has an expanded state for capturing thrombi in a patient's blood vessel and a collapsed state for removal from the patient's blood vessel. The filter assembly includes a fixed hub defining a tubular portion, a plurality of struts extending from a first axial side of the tubular portion of the fixed hub, and an axially movable hub. The struts have an expanded configuration and a collapsed configuration. The axially movable hub has a first position radially surrounding at least an axial portion of the tubular portion and a second position axially spaced apart from the fixed hub along the struts. The struts are in the collapsed configuration when the movable hub is in the second position. A first coupling member extends from the first axial side from the movable hub; and a second coupling member extends from a second axial side opposite the first axial side.
