A photoconductor element is provided that has non-blurring latent image keeping memory which is suitable for multiple electrophotographic copying from a single imaging step. The element preferably incorporates a charge generation layer which comprises a phthalocyanine dye or pigment. The copying method involves simultaneous application of corona charge and an image exposure to the element followed by uniform irradiation of the element. Thereafter a plurality of copies can be made by the step sequence of toner deposition, toner transfer, and toner heat fusion to a receiver.

Xeroprinting masters are formed by first forming a toner mask. The mask is used to expose a xeroprinting master material exhibiting persistent conductivity in response to a given wavelength and intensity of radiation. The toner mask can be formed and transferred to the xeroprinting material without fusing. After exposure the masking toner can be cleaned off providing a planographic master. Multicolor images are formed by forming two or more masking images, and transferring them to two or more master surfaces. After irradiation and cleaning each master surface is used as a xeroprinting master for a particular color in a multicolor duplicating system.

An improved reusable electrophotographic element that has an electrically conductive support, a charge-generation layer containing an aggregate photoconductive charge generating material and a charge-transport layer containing a triarylamine charge-transport material also contains an azo compound in a layer positioned to stabilize the element against light fatigue. The azo compound has the formula: ##STR1## where each R is alkyl or alkoxy and contains up to three carbon atoms, and each of n and m is 0 or 1.

An improved reusable electrophotographic element that has an electrically conductive support, a charge-generation layer containing an aggregate photoconductive charge generating material and a charge-transport layer containing a triarylamine charge-transport material also contains 1-phenylazo-2-naphthol in a layer positioned to stabilize the element against light fatigue.
